Default 06 versus older cars

If you had the chance to buy your Z all over again, or purchase another one. Would you consider buying a 2006 (with all the oil issues lingering) or would you go for an older one like a 2003, 04, 04.5, 05.

If you were offered a great deal on both an 06 and a 04.5, which would you take

depends on what your doing, dd or track. my preference would to look for only 07 - 08 cars, but if you only had the two choices above.. if neither of the two are "track editions" and both were in the same mileage ball park then obviously 06.. refreshed exterior/interior, suspension and brakes,, wheels, cam timing.. no brainer...

you need to do a little more research on the 350z's maybe?

I know about all the "good" differences, the only concern was would you risk the "oil consumption" issue of the 06, or would you just go with an older model. DD of course...

The 06' has about 100K miles on it, and the 04.5 has about 90k, both for 10K out the door, base models for both.

The OC was the only real concern...just weighing that issue

I have an 06 no OC issues a lot of 06's don't have oil consumption, then again some will slurp down extra oil and will have problems.

Judging by your post though your on a budget otherwise I'd say go with a 07-08 then again I still have tons of fun with my 06.

I would think that if you are looking at a 06 Z,the oil consumption issue
(if that specific Z had it)would be addressed by now.It could have been fixed under warranty by a previous owner.Does'nt matter what year the car is,would you buy a car with serious oil use problems?

Interesting choice. The 06 by far has advantages>>>Lights front and rear>>>Bigger brakes>>>Up Rev motor. Oil consumtion..yes, but as others have pointed out, that would be evident already. Do you have access to service records? If so, that should give you a clue on oil consumption.
