Default 2004 BMW Z4 2.5 vs. 2004 Nissan 350z roadster

I am new to this forum and have scoured it for opinions about this conundrum. I am 65, in good health and have never had a performance car.

I am looking at two private party sales-a 2004 Z4 2.5I convert. and an 2004 silver 350z convert-blue top. They have basically the same miles and same price (12,000) and both are automatic with the manual option.

I love the BMW white with a tan top and tan leather interior. The BMW has a bigger trunk but I think I can't get the Nissan out of my mind.

Any suggestions or opinions? The Nissan seems to get a little easier to get in and out of but both are fun to drive.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum George. Sounds to me like you've made your mind up already, you're here.

Hi George,
You and I are in the same age category.
I've owned my Z for 10 years...bought new.
In addition to what you mentioned, the Z has much more interior space.
I've driven the Z4,real snug inside. Also,if you have not owned a BMW before,
check out the prices on parts&maintenance compared to the Z.There are many
Z's on the road with 200k mikes still going strong.
Hold that thought, get the Z and join the community!

Than you for the thoughts. Cost is an issue. Another pundit on this site stated to only buy a BMW if it has a comprehensive warrenty. But the blue medalion...

I have always had a thing for the z but am struggling with owning a car I cannot fit a Costco package of toilet paper in.

The z has a new top and has been well cared for. The top on the BMW looks new as does the interior. I do feel less cramped in the z

Thanks for the help Mr. City

George

You can fit a fair amount of stuff in the boot/trunk of the Z, when the hood is up.

With the Z, you also get a community like no other Consider who you'd rather cruise and hang with - Z or BMW folks.

I chose my '05 after test driving both the Z and Z4 ... Hard to say why, but went with my gut and SO glad I did.

All good points.

Thank you for responding to a pretty worn and boring topic. The chase for a new car never gets old.

Bought it.

2004 touring convertible. Silver with a brand new blue top. Auto- but I am old now and have my 1961 VW Bug convertible if I need to shift.

Photos when I can figure out how to post them.

Thank you for the advice

Geosar, I think you made the right choice! I am 58, bought a new 350z in 2007!
I don't use it as a daily driver, but when I do I enjoy it more today than even when I bought it! Somewhat impractical, but true fun! It's OK to have a sports car at any age! Enjoy!

Took my wife out to dinner in the Z tonight.

It is all you fellows have said and more. So glad I did not wait any longer to jump in the performance car arena. Drove home with the top down-very comfortable.

And the icing on the cake is-my wife loves it.

Good times

George
