Default Opinions on this 04 Z.

Hello everyone,

I've been actively looking these past few days for my next car. I'm looking to buy from a dealership instead of a private seller because I'd like to build credit. My limit is around $13,000.

I found this Z at a dealership a good 40 miles away from my house. I'd like to get your guys' opinion if it's worth taking a look at. The dealership is asking $12,450 for it but is willing to negotiate. Any issues with the 04' auto Z's I should be aware of?

What do you guys think? Is it a fair price?

Mileage: 72,000
Price $12,000

I agree, give your offer and tell them TODAY. Dealer won't let an opportunity like that go...

Car looks clean good luck!

Yes after working at a dealership they want to protect the gross profit. They will not take anything that will not make money. It wouldn't make sense unless they got it cheap at an auction I don't see you getting it at a dealer for that low, private seller yes.

I got my touring from a dealer for 14k with only 30,000 miles and agency power catback

Since you worked at a dealership then you know that the customer is not privy to the price the dealership paid & all the RO's of the car.

There's only one way to get an idea. That way is to make an offer & see the reaction. To make a higher offer than 10k doesn't make sense.
There are other factors that may affect the selling price that you failed to mention. It may not be a Nissan dealer, & may just want to get rid of the car. They might have had the car in inventory for the whole winter, and as you know, or should know, they pay interest on every car they have in the lot. They may be desperate to get rid off it. They can also be told that an automatic is not the desirable trans for a sports car, and may want to get rid of it. Some dealers will even lose some money selling a car, thinking that maybe they can pick up profit from financing & or selling a warranty. I can do this ALL day long.
Were you a good salesman????

Odds are it will sell soon its common sense since the weather is better they will have a better shot of getting their asking price. Simple economics supply and demand. He is asking a private party price at a dealership. They only are desperate when the car is on the lot over 120 days.

The market is **** and there are many different factors that go into every sale. And yes I was good at selling. I doubt the op will buy a warranty if his budget is x including tax. If he wants a cheaper price buy as is privately.

Like I said, I could have and can go on forever. I'd rather change the subject & talk about you.
If I owned a dealership, YOU would be the LAST person I would hire. Not being mean, just the reasons are real & will point them out.

Have you ever heard the saying "buyers are liars"? I would NEVER hire a salesman that assumes that a buyer will not, or even most likely will not buy a warranty. That type of salesman also tends to assume that a person won't pay sticker price, or assume that the buyer knows all the incentives a dealer gets, or would NEVER sell or even attempt to sell a car above sticker. How many times have you witness YOUR customer telling you that they CAN'T spend, let's say 10k, then when they leave the finance office, they end up spending another 2k more on junk. I could go on all day at this. Like I said, you would be THE LAST person I would hire!!!

I bet that when someone had a trade, your first words would be, how much do you want for your trade. Am I right????

Learn to drive your z better

http://m.youtube.com/#/user/andre12031948?&desktop_uri=%2Fuser%2Fandre12031948

Go learn how to sell professionally then get back to me

Clearly you don't have a businesses degree. I do. Does it mean more if I type in all caps or add exclamation points?

Wait until you sell cars and tell me how it is. But you don't seem smart in any regard nor well spoken. I assume you have at least have a high school education.

My main point was sure he can offer anything to the dealer 5k, 10k or whatever. They will only sell it for profit as they are not in business to give away a car. Sure they take losses sometimes blah blah. Its a for profit business and if they took a loss on every used vehicle is that logical? They would rather take their chances at the auction if its been on the lot too long versus get a low ball offer. Sure its overpriced as is every dealer.

I didn't call you a single name. I only pointed out why I would never hire you. Most of your post is making fun/calling me names without one single reason, or one single point showing that I was wrong/mistaken.

Oh, I posted many times that I never graduated H.S. So what? Your business degree or you being a car salesman means very little to me. I am highly intelligent & can prove point by point that I know much, much more about selling cars, than you know, or ever could learn if you studied car selling for the rest of your life. How is that for a challenge? We can start by you answering my points first, then tell me how you deal when a trade is introduced, then we can go from there. Name calling only shows the obvious. Shows that that is all you can do.
Oh, what's that comment about me learning to drive? What does my driving have to do with the topic? Let's leave car driving out of this for now. For obvious reasons

Since you probably won't be able to answer my points anyway, I'll allow you to skip them. Just tell me how you handle a buyer with a trade?

Do you at least know why people will buy from one salesman & pay a bit more money & not buy from another at a lower price?

Do you even know the difference between reality & perception when it comes to selling cars?

Do you even know how to control a customer without being aggressive or show any pushiness what so ever?

Address just ONE thing, just ONE. Go to how do you handle a trade when it's part of a deal. That's a good start.

It's nothing personal. I don't know you from a whole in the wall. You took the low ground, and called me names. I have a sense of humor & don't mind name calling when I deserve it or if it's funny. Taking cheap shots at me is a no, no... and it's not funny...

OP, just try. It's always a no if you don't ask. What's the worst that can happen, they don't take it? If they don't then look for a better deal somewhere. At the end of the day the dealer needs to service the buyer, not get pushed around by the salesman. I say try 10.5k-11k.. And yes, also say you'll buy the car today.

My god, do you have to be Spartacus to make an offer?

OP, go to the dealer. Get the same salesperson that showed you the car. Take a test drive, a good one. This will show you how the car drives, & if you really like it, and will show the salesperson that you are a real buyer.

Make sure to make a car fax, or better yet, save $20 bucks & ask the dealer to show you one. They will!

After you sit down across the salesperson's desk, don't say anything, just fill out a check for $1,000, note deposit, sign check, then give it to the salesperson with a $10K offer for the car. DON'T say anything. The salesperson will go to his manager with your check in hand. He will either come with a counter offer, or the manager will come to the desk & talk to you direct.

In either case, you will notice that your check will remain on the manager's desk You will also notice that the salesperson or the manager will ask you if you're financing or paying cash. If you're financing, say it, if you're not, don't say that, say depends on the interest, or say I'm not sure. Important, don't say much, & when you do be polite & gracious.
You should say at some point, if only it were a manual transmission.
Also, no matter what their counter offer is, go up $500 at a time. Soon you'll be at $11k. If no deal, then continue only one hundred at a time. When you reach $11.500 & they still don't accept that deal, ASK FOR YOUR CHECK BACK! They wil come back & make that deal

Do as I say, & you'll get the car for $11k to $11,500k.

P.S. they priced the car to be sold for an even $12k.
