Default 05 Z questions

Yo. So I used to have a Redline 04 touring a while back but sadly had to get rid of her due to financial problems at the time. Since then things have been on the upswing (new job I love bills payed off etc).

Anyway I'm looking into getting another Z be it a 350 or 370 down the road. I stumbled across this 350 yesterday and it has me thinking. I have them down to 14k. Its an auto but I can live with it, honestly I sorta perfer it at this point so thats a non issue.

My questions are, what should I look for with the 05's? I'm thinking about heading over and doing a test drive possibly tomorrow. I know about the oil consumption issues but as far as I remember thats for 06 models right? Or were 05's included with that? Obviously I will check the windows as thats one fault I remember and Im all too familiar with the Bose amp problem but know how to fix it (did so on my 04)

Anyway I think the price is decent and it appears to be in good shape. The carfax report however shows 3 owners but is clean otherwise and regular maintenance has been done (belts changed, diff fluid changed, oil changes etc). I also like how it has the rareish orange leather seats.

Anyway what do you guys think and what else would you look for on an 05?

FWIW here's my old 04 that I miss dearly. She had no issues at all other than the Bose amp which I fixed with the paper trick.

Seems as though you prev owned a Z,you should have a head start on what to look for.
There is really not much different with that 05.Some late produced o5 models had the
REVUP engine that was in many of the 06 models.I think you are referring to the probs
with oil consumption. Its a good possibility that the Z you are looking at does not have
the revup.A positive is the car looks stock.None of the previous owners changed anything.I'd think the owners were older guys or perhaps female. If anything, most
pre-owned Z's havea intake change. The burnt orange seats are not that rare.
Very common in black cars and Silverstone.
Looks like a decent price at 14k if the car runs as clean as it looks.
Good luck!

You already owned a 350z. I think it's time for a 370z or a porsche.

The '05s with possible oil consumption issues were the Anniversary Edition with M/T. Since the car you are looking at is an A/T you're OK.

Looks like a decent deal and I like the Black/orange color combo.

Enjoy!!

Looks really clean and I would go for it. Hard to find orange interior.

It seems to have been taken care of and is all stock. That alone is hard go find. I have driven the auto before and I liked it, very quick acceleration and not sluggish. Nothing wrong about having three owners really. I would only be worried if it were a rental.

I went and looked at it yesterday, the dealership was closed and I was up that way (its about 30 minutes away). Its very clean, no dings or scratches. The interior is very nice as well, not much in the way of scratches on the arm rest for the door nor on the center console which is a common issue. The driver sides seat bolster is a bit worn and cracked but not severely just from use, thats about the only flaw. I may drive up today and test drive if I have time.

You already owned a Z and one with the DE motor. If I were you I would at least upgrade and look into the 07-08 models with the HR motor. I've seen them go around 14-15k with 55-80k miles but if you spend another grand you can find them with lower miles. Completely worth it IMO especially if you already had a DE. That's my two cents.
