Default Buying the Z for invoice someday?

It goes without saying that the Z is a hot car right now.

But do you think a day is coming in about 8 months when they will be plentiful?

Do you think that in the future there will be about 8 unsold Zs on every dealer's lot and they will settle for just a little over invoice?

Default for sure

Im sure you will be able to get for a few hundred over invoice in about 9-12 months. Before that, i think the car will usually sell for MSRP, or higher, if people are so stupid to pay that.

A few hundred over invoice? I seriously doubt that. I think it'll be MSRP+markup for at least a year and then MSRP for a few months and then maybe 1-2K over invoice. I don't think a car like this will be had for invoice for a long time, if ever.

Thumbs up MSRP today Invoice tomorrow

I believe that the invoice price tomorow will be equal to or higher than today's MSRP.

Reason, a performance car of this quality, performance and value is overly underpriced today. Just my opinion that invoice next year will truly reflect the value of the car, which is much higher.

I agree that the Z is underpriced. To me, that is the beauty of the car: it's a working man's Porsche.

If they raised the price of the car, that would be a damn shame.

My prediction would be MSRP+ for the first year, with some dealers gouging thousands above, like they did for pre-orders, but with people being able to get MSRP if they shop around. After the first year, I'd expect the price to stabilize about halfway between invoice and MSRP.

I'd also expect the selling price (but not MSRP) to drop slightly when and if Nissan introduces a turbo/supercharged version of the Z.

On the other hand, I would never expect the price of a 350Z to drop all the way to invoice, unless you're buying at the end of the model year -- for example, a 2004 a month before the 2005s are coming out.

Can you imagine getting a great deal on a Z, like 24,500 for a base? Wow.

I think if Nissan gets anywhere near their production goal, you should see prices fall well below MSRP in a matter of months. I know you guys won't believe me but it happens with no exceptions to mass produced cars. The Z is not a limited production car and 30K is not exactly cheap. Its just a question of when the pre-orders get filled.

i would seriously doubt that you will be getting this car for Invoice in the next 2-3 years. its just good old supply and demand .. this car is already a steal at MSRP, nothing even comes close to it for the price .. 30k cars a year to sell @ MSRP will be easy as cake for Nissan to do. Cars sell at invoice when the demand for them drops and dealers have to induce interest in the car. Do you really think that the base model will have trouble selling for 27k? i think not.

my dad's a doctor and he had a patient who *happened* to be a manager of a local nissan dealer. told my dad (and me) that he should be able to get us any z we wanted for invoice price for the work my dad did on him as a favor. so, yeah, we're getting one for invoice in about three-four months. though i feel awfully bad about taking advantage of the offer.

Well, if the delays in shipments keep occurring and the MSRP + mark up gets higher, I'll wait to see what the new 2004 Supra looks like.

I would like to buy a new Z once my lease is up in 9 months, but it's whatever's the best on the market for the price when I'm ready to buy.

Anyone else?

Default This has already be discussed 10times over

The Z is a deal at MSRP. They sold over 7000 sight unseen at MSRP. They will not sell for less unless the economy dictates, ie war, recession etc. Why do dealers sell cars for less then MSRP because the vehicle is not selling or to steal business. In this case neither of these are applicable. The Z sells it self for whatever they want to charge. I will also bank on the fact that the invoice and MSRP will go up for the 04 model year, how do I know, all cars go up, its called inflation.

If you want one buy one, if you can't afford to MSRP, then you can't afford one at invoice. Sorry but this is the truth!
MSRP on the base model is $26k and change, that is the invoice on the perfromance package.

This is just my 2 cents.
