Question Is the Z overpriced vs G35c?

Just checking the Infiniti website, it appears the pricing on the g35c is out now. My preordered Z Touring MT loaded with Nav is about $36,600 MSRP, and that the g35c MT loaded has everything the Z has, PLUS the g35c has Brembo and moonroof for $36,850. Am I missing something here?

There significantly more cost into developing the 350z than G35 coupe. You also get heritage and the forged Ray 18" rim. Those rims alone are worth $3000. I'm not sure if the G35 coupe uses the same aluminum parts, like hood and suspension.

The G35c suspension is the same as the G35 sport suspension option. The coupe does have an aluminum hood however. My coupe comes out to $37,865 (every option excluding port-installed "bodykit").

Only the track model gets Rays, the first post indicated that he has a Touring model that doesn't have Rays, so there isn't a price advantage to that respect.

I too was disappointed to see the G35c pricing, b/c for around the same price as a manual touring, I could get a spoiler, brembo brakes, sunroof, 2 small rear seats (good for frequent temp storage like a laptop bag), slightly more luxurious interior & much better dealer service. Only drawbacks I see are 7 less horsepower, less agressive/sporty looking exterior, no model heritage.

Depends what you want

you want a "true" sports car than go with the Z

you want a little more luxury go with the G35

Z outperforms the G35- and real sports cars don't have back seats

But the truth is you can't go wrong, they are both awesome cars, if you're rockin one or the other don't feel about about the choice you made- can't go wrong

Actually it is not a $1,000 difference at all. Add in the side air bags and alum kickplate to your Z pricing (std on g35c), and the price difference is $300 - $400 at MOST, and you still get the sun roof and Brembos with the g35c. Those two items should be worth at least $2,000, wouldn't it? This is really almost too good a deal it seems. Damn, now I am really confused.

200-300 more lbs... That is my main reason for counting the coupe out.

appx. 188lbs more and 7.3 in longer baseline in the G35c. These should keep the handling aspect of the G35c lower than the Z.

Ferrari's and Porsches have back seats.

I'd find it hard to buy a touring Z over the g35c. Both priced in the mid 30s. g35c has better warranty, service, cheaper insurance (4 seater). Unless you are going to drive the Z at it's maximum potential - but then why not get the Track? Or you just want a 'Z' car. A G35c will perform just fine for most drivers.

oh no, I just found out that the 6mt is available only on the leather model which is 32,000. This is CONSIDERABLY more expensive for the hard working enthusiast. The base model is 26k. Sure the G comes with leather and all the bells and whistles, but its too expensive if you want the 6MT.

Default What about the HP???

The G36c has 7 less HP. This could also mean the powerband is different. Seven less HP + added wieght = weaker performance.

I too considered the G35. IMO the Z is much better looking!

I agree. To me, a sports car like the Z doesn't need to be fully decked out with luxury appointments. That's why I'll probably go with an enthusiast. OTOH, a luxury/sports coupe like the G should be well equipped (incl 6MT), which would make it significantly more expensive than the Z, at least $5k more.

It all boils down to personal needs. I prefer the looks and performance of the Z and don't need a lot of practicality at this stage in my life. If I did, I'd go w/ the G.

BTW, do Infinity dealers have the G coupe in their showrooms yet? If not when are they expected?

I was on a swing between the G35 and the Z. $300-500 separates the Z 6sp Touring with all options except Navi and a 6sp w/leather with all options except Navi and XM. The G35 has a better warranty, customer service (I think this just depends on what dealership you go to), brembo brakes, more leather, and some luxury items. I decided to go with the Z because it came down to what I really wanted, a sports car with aggressive styling, proven history, reliability, and besides the extra room in the G wasn't even a factor for me nor the some luxury features. The G35 is a great car no doubt about, but it's currently not for me. Brembos are all not that important, what is, is what will keep me happy in the many years to come. I've been lucky to have the opportunity to view the G35c in person as well as test drive it. Drives great, (can't compare it to the Z because I haven't driven one yet), front and rear look great, the interior is just like the 4-dr. From the side, the car just looks blah. It gives a tall/chunky appearance compared to the Z and 3-series coupe.

Nissan did a great job with both of them.

Default Ordering a G35C

I know this is off topic, but if you have to flame me then cool. Has anyone ordered a G35C? I have talked to several dealers and they tell me that they won't take an order, you just have to pick from the show room. Anyone have a different experience.

My 350Z gets here on 9 Oct, I have to make up my mind in a couple of weeks ....
