$35k for a touring a good price?
Ive convinced my dad to get a Z since he originally wanted a carrera but was not willing to pay 50-60k. So, I told him he should seriously look at the Z. He always knew that I liked them a lot but never really looked close.
Now, he loves it and wants one. We went to a dealership today, test drove one, and picked out exactly what he wants.
He wants the basic touring model and the sticker price was 35,900. He has perfect credit and all the financing would be fine (he was about to get a porsche..). But when the dealer called him back with a 35,500 as his offer, my dad was unsatisfied because he told the dealer to just call him back with his best price. After my dad sounded pissed off on the phone because he didnt want to get jerked around, the dealer kept asking my dad to come up with a number. That really pissed my dad off more, because obviously 35,500 is not the lowest they can go, or they wouldnt be asking him to come up with a figure.
So, I am wondering if anyone here knows what the real lowest reasonable price would be for a touring?

Yeah thats what we were thinking. I have a friend in arizona whos dad is a nissan dealer but I havent been able to get in touch with him today. I figure he could ask his dad what the cost is and my dad can use that number to help in the price negotiation.
My dad fully understands and expects the dealer to make a profit, but he sure doesnt want to get reamed out.
Oh, and he is getting the 18 inch wheels and bose sound, but that is included in the sticker.

The Daytona Blue 6-speed 2004 touring 350Z should come to $35,000 after taxes/tags/titles/etc. Me and the dealer agreed on the www.edmunds.com price of $33,300. The only options I selected was the side curtain airbags, aerodynamics package, and the standard stuff like splashguards, floor mats, trunk mats, aluminum kick plates, etc. No nav and stuff...peace all
1g to 2.5 Gs below MSRP (but before taxes & license) seems to be the range I've seen in the last few months on the boards.
One thing about asking here: if you said the dealer was giving you the car someone on here would tell you how he got a better deal!

Please excuse the horrible formatting... I am not familiar w/ how to post preformatted text... but this is from a spreadsheet that I have in preparation for buying my own Z. The first column is the MSRP, the 2nd is the Invoice and the 3rd is the www.edmunds.com TMV price for my area (Miami, FL) including the best guess I have as to any odd fees that might appear. My parents just bought a Mercedes C class and those are the fees that they charged: $390 service fee, $205 for Tag and Title and the tax in FL is 6%.

Is that $35,500 before tax/tag/title or out the door? If it's before thats a huge rip off.
I've been offered $33k for a touring model with kickplates and floor/trunk mats out the door.
That's roughly $29k before tag/tag/title.
Do your homework first and most importantly; do not be afraid to go out of state to get your Z!

I assume its 35.5 out the door. If that is the case, its not unreasonable cause you figure about 3 Grand goes into taxes/licensing/registration. I got my fully loaded touring for $39 out the door, so I got roughly $1000 off MSRP. So, if it is $35.5 out the door, its not that bad. Could be better, but also could be worse.

I gave those specs to my friend in Arizona whos dad owns a dealership and he came back with $33,500 as a really really good deal, at least as stuff costs in Arizona. So I told my dad to ask for 33,000 and go from there.

I live in Oregon too. Every dealer wants MSRP in Oregon. Where did you get yours at?

They are good at car business, but worse service. The sevice department is totally different, I hate them. They are the one who make me feel why did I choose Nissan? Should get a Infinity G35 coupe.
I recently ordered an 04 touring 350Z loaded and I was able to get it at $500 over the invoice price. You can get the invoice price at kelley blue book. My price with all the options, NAV, Extra air bag, manual, kick plates, etc, was just over $35K. I think 500 to 1,000 over invoice is a decent deal. Don't negotiate from the sticker price down, start with the invoice price and move up a little. I would think one sitting on the lot you could do pretty good since they are paying for the inventory. If he wants a price from your dad, start with the invoice....
