Waxing method??
Hello,
Generally when I wax the car I don't use swirling for puttin the wax on or off. I go up and down. Now I heard that some people put three coats on... one vertical, one horizontal, then one diagonal... dry and buff between each coat. Does anyone know if that makes a difference?
Danke,
Drew

I think hand swirling makes the most sense, because that will make sure the first coat gets into all the places it should. That's what makes a wax effective.
I'm afraid if you apply one coat with one motion, you'll cover up a scratch or pit without totally filling it with wax. Then the second coat won't be able to do its job.

All the instructions I've read beyond turtle wax have been an up and down motion. It works nicely. I just spot-tested on my car to see how it works against swirlmarks... it works well but it's better to remove in a circular fashion. I guess each will work just depends.
Hmm, yeah, now that you mention it, I guess it makes sense if you already have swirl marks and want to get rid of them. That way, if you're only moving in one direction at a time, you'll fill all the crosswise parts of the swirl without pushing any wax back out.
