Clear bra pulling clear coat off
I was having the Clear Bra installed before a week long road trip that starts next Monday (June 6). The guy just called and said that when he went to trim the clear bra around the left front fender that after he cut, the clear bra pulled the clear coat off. Has anybody else seen this? I think when I get back from my trip the car is going to get sold. I am tired of fighting Nissan to fix things. The convertible top had holes, the front tires are feathering. Now the clear coat is coming off. What a shitty vehicle. I should of bought the Lexus SC430 like I had planned. I also have a Nissan Titan and my front brake rotors are warped. That is taking Nissan forever to learn how to fix also. I sure like the Infiniti M45 Sport but I don't think it's an option anymore.
What are my options? Do I have to have the car repainted? Can they take clear coat off and reapply?

My Maxima's brake rotors were becoming warped too. I believe it had to do with hot and cold cycles (which cause a lot of stress on metals) which were due to having the car parked outside with direct sun exposure for 2 years. It sure as hell wasn't from hard braking, because I almost never had to pounce on the brakes in the time I owned it. The Maxima's paint was also getting really shoddy, but what can you expect from being parked in the sun for 2 years? Even with waxing at regular intervals, the sun is a relentless fiend that plagues all things painted.
If you garage your cars though, feel free to blame Nissan for its crappy paint. It won't be the first or last time I hear this complaint.
My car has either been parked in a carport or a garage.
UPDATE:
Now that I have the car back and I see where the clear coat was coming off. It's off the plastic front bumper and not the metalic hood. My theory is this: When I bought the car it was on the dealers lot, I had not ordered it. After choosing the car to purchase the salesperson pointed out there was a scratch in the front bumper below the license plate. He said it happened when it was being taken off the truck. I had to take the car back in and they had it fixed. My idea is that they found a crappy body place to repaint the front bumper. I am not sure they painted the entire bumper, probably not. But I think I have a case now lets see if the dealer thinks so.
Bottom line, the clear coat should not be coming off. The guy that put the clear bra on said they only use water and baby shampoo when putting the 3M coating on. That should not lift the clear coat.

That explains it, because after seeing how my hood lifted up as they were pulling the bra off and the paint remain fine there is no way it should lift it so yo uare probably right they did a crappy repair job, plus they usually recommend waiting 60-90 days after a repaint before applying the clear bra or it will rip the paint off.

It was repaired approximately 14 months ago, right after I bought it.

The problem is still back to the crappy Nissan Paint. Even with clear bra, my car still get paint chips, just not as much.

The factory paint is the same for all cars no adays, I have had my front end repainted as well as my rear bumper and it is the same, the front has chipped just as easy, I waited for the repaint to cure and it was too late for a clear bra.
