My Redline (darker Colors) do not hide swirls and my dealer decided to the ole Bewitched Broomstick on my Roadster, needless to say I am not sure if this product will work. Fingers Crossed!

I cannot start until the weekend, I will post picss then.

A few questions:

So did Z-5 not really work for you in terms of making your swirlies disappear, or, did you just want to overkill it and make sure they're gone for good?

Are you using elbow grease or a random orbit buffer?

Z-PC removes previous layers of Zaino, right? So, are you kinda pissed about having to start the layering process over again?

Do you plan on using Z-5 after Z-PC?

How long did you have your Z before you started using Zaino products?

FYI, Mine had only been washed a couple times, by the dealer, before I bought it. The first time I washed it myself was with dawn, then I did the whole Zaino process. Since the swirls are fairly mild and not too deep, I'm just sticking with Z-5 for now.

I applied 5 coats of Z-5, it did not work at all!

Random Oribital for the Z-PC

YES

So, are you kinda pissed about having to start the layering process over again?

NO, I only had about 5 coats

If the swirls are not gone I will, along with Z-2 to top it off.

How long did you have your Z before you started using Zaino products?

Had the products before I got my 05.

Hmm, the lack of faith in Z5 is disturbing. I was wondering if it would really get rid of my swirls or not--now I'm leaning towards "not."

I may get this ZPC after you post pics...

zand02max -
Can you try to get one or two pics that really show the swirl marks, then get an "apples for apples" shot after using ZPC? I would really appreciate it, and I'm sure a lot of other people would as well.

Thanks!

This post illustrates how people misunderstand Z5. Z5 does not "get rid of" swirls, it hides them. It physically fills in the micro-scratches in the clear-coat with polymer, making them less visible. If you let the Zaino wear out for 6 months to a year, the swirls will still be there and will gradually come back.

None of the above will surprise anyone familiar with Zaino, including Sal Zaino himself. Think about physical reality, people. The only thing that will "get rid of" swirls is an abrasive and Zaino is not abrasive.

If you have bad swirls and want a great finish, have someone do a good abrasive polish (wet sand), then start with Zaino. If your finish is already pretty good with maybe a few micro-swirls, Z5 is all you need.

I did, the 2nd picture I ordered all of it at one time last year, still have almost all of it left.

With everything pictured in both pictures, probably around $400.00. Just imagine how much it would be every few months to get a full detail? I save a lot in doing the labor myself,

FYI - be careful not to order too much at one time. Sal is constantly improving the product, and it does have a shelf-life. Documented shelf life (for example) of ZFX is 18 months. Beyond that it will proabably work, but it has been known to dry up.

FWIW

Brian - I have read up on Z-5, and used Z-5. I am aware of what Z-5 does, I am aware it is not an abrasive, and I never misunderstood the purpose of Z-5. I do see how my post could have been misread, my fault.

To clarify, I still expect Z-5 to "get rid of" the *appearance* of my swirls. This is what it is advertized to do. My swirls aren't that bad to begin with, since my car had only been washed a handful of times by the dealer while they kept it on their lot.

My concern is not that Z-5 would fail to abrasively delete my swirls for good. My concern is that Z-5 will fail to fully fill in the swirls that I do have.

What I was saying is that if people such as zand02max similarly had nothing but the initial dealer swirls and Z-5 did not work to eliminate the appearance of those swirls, maybe I'll get the Z-PC.

I don't know... I have noticed that after a couple of coats Z-5 reduces the appearance of the swirls, but they are still quite visible in direct bright light. Maybe after a few more coats, I'll decide whether to use the Z-PC or whatever.
