Default Touch Up Paints?

Has anyone tried to use any of the touch up paints or pens offered by Nissan? I just found a nice mark on my driver side door about a centimeter long by a couple millimeters wide. I had just finished putting on a fresh coat of Z-2, which made it really noticeable. I saw that the pen is only 12 bucks, but I don't want to try it and make it look even worse.

Anyone have any experience with this?

from past experience from touchup paints..it only makes it WORSE.

if its a slight scratch, clean it, polish and wax it.
or use a little bit of tooth paste, let dry, and then wax it off.

the pen / paint polish will just make it nasty, unless you plan on doing a slight wet 1000 grit sand and then polish... but really dont do it...

Unfortunately it is not a scratch but more of a long paint chip, like one you would see from a rock, only rectangular. Maybe I should bring it to the dealer and ask their opinion.

You know this is weird but I have the same chip. It's not really noticable until you go to wash it or wax it. Mines about halfway down lined up with the door handle. Think its been there since I took delivery of it. Maybe it's hitting something when the takes it off the boats.

Default Touching up

Actually, you should probably have posted this in detail shop, but WTH. I asked the exact same question two weeks ago and got one reply that was indecisive, so I went out to my local dealer to get both. It turns out they didn't know, had never seen, heard of the paint pen w/clear coat. (They're not the sharpest knives in the drawer.) So I got the brush kind. And boy, was that timely, because Saturday, while backing into my garage, I lightly tagged the new Craftsman rollaway toolbox boxes that had been delivered by my dad, but not exactly placed out of the way. So I had a paint blem, appr. 3/8" long by 1/8" high, that I got to try out the brush on. Since my car is Daytona Blue, the only metallic flake paint offered this year, it is a ***** to get it right. First off, the paint wants to glob, even if you get most of it off the brush before applying. Second, the bristles are junk, and not placed on the tip in a way that facilitates precision application. So if you go this route, good luck. I think I'm gonna order the paint pen. Except that Courtesy's minimum ship charge is $8, for something that costs $12, and actually costs them $3 to ship via UPS.....That's why I didn't do it in the first place. LOL....

hey Red,

Thanks, I was wondering about that bottled paint. I can just see that as not being very precise. I think I may order the pen too, even though they do hose you on the shipping. I'll ask my dealer first, but I am sure I will get the same clueless response

Default chips

I noticed a couple chips on my db. btw non of them in locations where the clear bra would help. One on the hood the other on the door. Any way I ordered the paint from my dealer they only had the bottle and brush one, and they gave me the paint at no charge.

You want to apply only a small amount so you don't get any paint out side the chip "this is when is looks worst".
It's to cold to do any type of painting since my car is in storage for the winter.

But if you don't over do it and build the chip up a little bit at a time I think you'll be all right. I plan on filling my chips in with the tip of a tooth pick. Just make sure the paint is mixed good , shake it up for several minutes then let the air bubbles disolve.

Default Brickyard Touch up paint

I'm looking for brickyard touch up paint. I stopped by a Nissan dealership and what they had looked almost brown.....yuck! Wondering if anyof the Brick owners had tried it and what the results were. Also I have heard that if you go to the delarship that you bought the car at they will give you the paint, is this true?
