Default d@mn hairline scratches...

i try and try so hard to avoid those little hairline scratches that are only visible under the sunlight, or certain angles in artificial light... i bought all the expensive crap (microfiber towels, zaino)... but i guess these damn scratches are just inevitable in due time.. does anyone know how much z5 or z2 i should use to rid my car of these evil things? and do you know whether or not i should just treat certain areas, or is it best to redo my entire car? hey all you zaino pro's... do you guys have hairline scratches also? they are abundant on certain areas in my car, like the roof and hood.. man.. this sux.. damn

My question is were they there when you got the car? If not, you need to find out what happened to get them there.

Good luck!!!

I have a LeMans Sunset Track and its painted surface is flawless. My question to you would be, where were you when the shipping paper was removed, and who cleaned your car the very first time. If you were not present, or did not remove the shipping paper yourself, or if you allowed the dealer to clean/prep the car, then I can almost guarantee the dealer did it.

And exactly how is it going to help this guy if he finds out whether or not the dealer did it?? He can't very well go to the dealership and accuse them of scratching the car because no dealer will take that responsibility after the guy washed and waxed the car himself.

I have the same problem, but I didn't realize that these hairlike scratches were there until after I washed the car and started waxing it. I also used the softest cloth I could find to dry my car after the wash, and I still found those scratches afterwards. My only hope is that a quality wax will be able to remove the scratches.

Are you sure they are scratches? Many of us thought we had long scratches across the roof, hatch, and down the hood, but they all turned out to be glue from the shipping protective papers. With a little elbow grease, they come right off.

I have a few also. The Z5 doesn't get them off or hide them(whatever it's suppose to do). I think no matter how hard you try they are just going to happen. I been very careful but they still show up at certain angles.

The Z-5 is non-abrasive, it will not "remove" them, but it will gradually fill them in as long as you are not constantly putting in new swirl marks.

If the swirls are very mild a single coat of Z-5 may make a noticeable difference, if there are really bad, it could take several coats to make a noticeable difference.

Excellent and somewhat disheartening article. Very informative. Well, at least I know now that it isn't necessarily anything I'm doing "wrong," black is just a tough color to keep looking "perfect." Just for grins....I am currently using cotton, terry cloth towels to wash with. Anyone had any good experiences using anything else?

Get yourself a chenille or sheepskin washmitt - probably the best thing you can use.
