after exiting onto an on ramp to another freeway here in sacramento, ca, a rock came out of nowhere and put a little star on my front windshield in my field of view. the star is about .5 in.

do you guys suggest i get a whole new front glass, or just get it patched up. i just got the car seven days ago, a week. just worried if getting a new glass will cause leaks to arise. should i just patch it up?

Go to the yellow pages and look for windshield repair. Your insurance might cover the cost, too. It will be alot less than buying a new windshield.

 

Oh Man! I get my 22" long crack fixed on Wednesday. I sucks doesn't it? Call Safelite in the Sacto area. I've heard good things about them. It only took 1 week to get the glass.

i think i'm just going to patch it up since i don't want to have to take the front windshield off and since i don't have a 22" crack like sdpearso.

how did you get that 22" crack sdpearso?

make sure that you get it fixed asap

the longer you wait, the greater the risk of getting contamination in the crack that will show up even after their best efforts

it would even help to put some tape over the star now to reduce likelihood of contamination

(I have been there!)

A rock hit about 4 inches from the edge of the windshield. Once the crack spread to the edge, all was lost and it's been growing ever since.

 

I now have 3 cracks, 1 8 oinches long in 3000 miles of driving, and i dont drive on a dirt road. this glass is brittle.

Im taking it up with Nissan to replace.

 

I had a star about @ .75". Got it fixed right away and it is barely noticable now.

Some places will not touch your windshield if the damage is in your line of vision. (liability issue for them). I just went to other shops till I found a nice place that did it for me.
