Damn dealer made surface scratches!!-- Can they be buffed out?
Whoever has their Z on order, make sure you tell the dealer when it comes off the truck to leave the plastic on for you to peel off.
Unfortunately, I did not order my Black Touring. I found one in Gainesville for sticker, so I drove up to get it!
After driving for two hours, getting lost, and very frustrated I finally arrived at the dealership. By that time it was dark and late, so I never really examined the car thoroughly.
On top of it, the finance manager talked my ear off for about an hour (about the Gators and how great a coach Steve Spurrier was). I was about ready to kill someone. All I wanted to do was get in my new Z and cruise home.
I finally got out of there and jumped in & drove back to Tampa.
The next morning, I got up around 7am in excitement to wash my new baby.
I only use the best of products (microfiber towel, blackfire, big blue towel to dry). However, after the first wash, I noticed in the sun I could see light surface scratches that were definitely not my doing.
Can you really buff out the scratches with a buffer without making swirl marks? My car is Super Black.

I use a product from Meguiars called Scratch X. I have a redline Z now but on my black MR2 Spyder the product worked wonders getting out small scratches and it's not expensive !!!
TPAtouring, you can buff out swirlmarks with a rotary and do a very good cover-up with a DA. Aren't you the one who works near CMA. Ask one of them for advice. Like you I also have a Black Z. Don't be afraid of a rotary or a DA. They can become your best friends if you don't abuse them. If you keep your speeds low and your pads clean you will have nothing to worry about.

Yep a rotary buffer can do wonders but BOY YOU BETTER KNOW WHAT THE F YOUR DOIN WITH IT!!!
If you dont have at least 30 cars under your belt with a rotary buffer it doesn't matter if you use the wifes new cotton panties on the car... you can easily cut through the paint.
Trust me on this.
Although.... I must say I will not allow, nor recommend, letting anyone touch a new car, even with a mit and fresh bucket of soap. Let alone asking some detailing service to buff the scratches out.
Kind of stymied for advice to give you.
