My Redline track model has looked great since being washed, clayed and Blackfired. I agree with the other posters that the Blackfire polish and sealant were surprisingly easy to apply and gain outstanding results with. Since that time, weekly cleanings with Mother?s Showtime detailing spray have kept my Z looking sharp.
Today I found another benefit to Blackfire?s reputed ?slickness?. The Denver metro area (like most major cities, it seems) is smack in the middle of a huge road project titled ?T-Rex? (and yes, it is a monster). Unfortunately, I found signs this morning that I had driven through some tar on the driver?s side. There were black streaks and strings of fresh tar from the ?Z? emblem on the front fender back to the rear rocker panel!
Yikes! Fearing the worst, I decided to try the least abrasive cleaner first- the Showtime spray with a towel. If that didn?t work, I certainly had products that would take the tar (and everything else) off the paint. To my surprise and satisfaction, the tar had not hardened and was quite easy to wipe off! After cleaning one panel and going down the side of the car, it was apparent that I?d got a lot of tar on it. The more I looked, the more I found as I went back and forth several times. My towel was quite black by the time I?d finished the half-hour job.
The slickness of the Blackfire (over admittedly, virgin paint) really made a difference in this cleanup. I have two coats of protectant on presently and after six weeks, the Blackfire continues to hold up admirably. Soon, the Colorado winter will really set in and I?m expecting the protection (and the shine) to hold until spring!
