Default Help me fix this!

My rear bumper was hit leaving a slight crease that didn't seem to harm the paint but I really don't want to turn it into insurance If I don't have to. My friend seems to think that we might be able to pull it back out by useing a heat gun while it's still on the car then just buff out the scuff mark. What do guys think about useing the heat? Is there another way etc?
