Default Meguiars Waxing Question

When I bought my car 3 months ago I did a Meg. 3 step waxing on it. It is time for me to wax again and I was wondering if any of you do the 3 step process everytime you wax or if you just apply another coat of the wax. I'm just wondering how much time I need to give myself. And if you do just wax, which meguires wax do you recomend?
Thanx,
jason

You probably just need a good claybarring and a coat of wax. Depends on how clean your paint is. Do you park it outside a lot, ect? NXT is a great Meguiars Product. I use it on my Maxima.

If the car is new, then you should not really need to re-apply the paint cleaner every time. I'm not 100% sure if the cleaner wax contains any abraisives... but you'd want to avoid using it too much if it does. Keep up with your waxing (NXT or any other product) and you should be good to go

reg. Meg wax
= megs cleaner wax? megs gold class wax?? 3rd step megs carnuba??...each of megs OTC waxes will give a slightly different look...not a world of difference but each has its own qualities...in my experince:
NXT - darkens & very reflective, not very long lived
ColorX - brings out more of the silverstone flake, not quite as reflective, but does last longer
Gold Class - no comment, since I have not used
3rd step carnuba - ditto
and depending on your paint condition, that will determine the need for the three step process...but the polish (2nd step) can be used any time before a wax...its a non-abrasive poilsh..that will enhance any of the above products

this was with megs 2nd step polish and NXT
door reflection

By 3-step wax, I'm assuming you're talking about the Deep Crystal System. Right?

If so, then no you do not need to go through all three steps every time you want to wash/wax your car.

IF you clean and use the 3-step process correctly the first time, then repeated uses of step 1 (paint cleaner) is unnecessary.

If you want to just wax (to protect) your car then simply use the step 3 (pure carnuba wax). I would recommend it as an option to use step 2 (polish) every time but it is not needed that often unless you park your car in a heavy industrial area or under an airport runway approach path.

Oh, and yes you can mix and match *some* different products.

For example, you can see my results here: https://my350z.com/forum/cleaning-and-detailing/145640-meguiars-gold-class-or-meguiars-nxt.html

I used the following:
  • Meguiar's gold class shampoo (wash)
  • Meguiar's clay bar
  • Meguiar's Deep Crystal System Step 2 Polish
  • Mother's Reflections Car Wax
  • Mother's Reflections Top Coat
