Default i dont' know what this stuff is but how do i take it off.....help

well last week i was washing my car and the passanger side door has a bunch of what appears to be dried glue like stuff.

i think it could be tree sap type of a substance. i washed it and washed it thinking that soaking will take it off but i got nothing accomplished.

is there anything that can take stuff like this off?

I don't trust Goo-Gone. Try WD-40 spray lubricant. Won't hurt the paint and does a pretty good job on tar and sap. If it actually is some sort of glue (is it dry or sticky?) perhaps a soft towel with some gasoline. Light rubbing only! Make sure you wax the affected area after you get it clean.

You don't trust Goo-Gone but then you'd recommend somebody use gasoline on their paint??????

Goo-Gone is designed to remove glues and is harmless to paint. WD-40 is good for tar as is mineral spirits and kerosene. Gasoline is never recommended as it will dull the finish.

Sure, if there is consistant contact and the gas is allowed to dry on the paint surface. I've spilled gas on fillups many times with no harm done. I just make sure I rinse the area and apply a coat of Zaino over the affected area.

For tree sap I recommend warm soap and water. If that doesn't work, isopropyl alcohol is safe for clearcoat.

+1 (use a mild soap one that doesn't contain ammonia.)
