Buffing might be enough if the residue only hazed the surface. If you can actually feel the damage other detailing measures might be necessary.

The best "paint protectant" you can get is a quality synthetic polish like Zaino or other similar product. I'm sure a number of Z owners will chime in with their own recommendations. Avoid the dealer promoted paint protectants. They charge you outlandish prices for the same protection you can get and do for yourself.

You sure it wasn't kangaroos that got your car?!?!

Man, I hate bird****! I washed my car yesterday, then went to the grocery store where a bird pooped on my car. It was a big one, too.

Luckily, with Zaino polish, the poop just rinses off. I found some poop on my headlight cover the other day, then it rained (normal rain, not really hard) and the crap was gone.

Before Zaino, I tried to clean some poop off my passenger door. It was on the car for a day or less, but it was so hard to get off, I had to rub it a little. That was a mistake because rubbing it left scratches.

+1
With several layers of Zaino, the bird crap just rinses off without any residue left on the surface.

bird **** on SB is a disaster, i leave a bottle of watered down QuickDetailer+Soap in my car with a microfibre clothe just in case i get caught out

the non metallic black is soooo soft, anything will leave a mark. I fit my carbra and even that leaves fine scratches in the bonnet that i have to hand-buff out

try hand buffing the area with a swirl remover first. Something like Menzerna Final Polish, Farecla G10 or even the Poorboys SSR1 will work, as long as it doesnt have fillers, or else ull think the marks have gone, but a few washes later itll come back

Zaino is a great wax protectant, its the most durable wax on the market by far. But any good quality carnauba will also offer protection, but will need to be re-applied more frequently

i have a nasty small blemish on the roof of the car.

Best thing to do is wax the car, i use mqguires quick wax.

so if a bird shat(past tense) on my car i just wash it and reapply on that spot

I use Zanio on my car, I Have about 5 layers. I left bird crap on my car for about 3 days before I could wash it and it still left a small mark.
Im not saying wax doesnt help, It does but whatever you do dont wait more than a day to get it off of your car. If you do you risk stains.

Same here. I leave it in the compartment behind the passenger seat. Has saved me a lot of times when coming out of work.

I suggest that you try a wax with a mild cleaner such as 3M 39006.

It'll buff out, and if it won't come out with just a buff, sand it with a 1000 and then buff, it, tada.

what you are supposed to do when bird crap gets on your car is to boil some water and let it cool down a little and get a paper towel pour the hot water on the area and gently wipe it away with the towel. You might want to ask a body shop on how to get the marks out.

I've had some tree sap of sorts fall on my car and damage the paint in a few hours-- EPA has made it so paint is not as tough and durable as years ago.

i usually carry a bottle of non-sodium seltzer water in the car with me at all times. i read somewhere on here before that you just shake the bottle up, and let the bubbles take care of the rest. the bird crap just dissolves away. i also carry some terrycloth towels in my trunk as well. whatever residue is left i just blot out with the towels. the water is like .83 cents at the nearest grocery store.
