Default Wax Question #233423: What should I AVOID waxing?

Ok...so lots of topics on how to wax, what product to use, etc etc. I just got a basic question. What should I not wax? I plan to wax my car in the near future, but I don't want to start waxing and then stop half way wondering if I should wax items like:
-headlights
-taillights
-door handles etc.

Is wax strictly for areas with paint/clearcoat? Does this include the front grill area? I know people wax their rims a bit and I plan on doing that. No harm right? How about headlights/tailights/door handles? Exhaust tips ok too?

What kind of wax are you using? Some waxes will stain trim, others won't. When using a wax that will not stain trim you can wax everything, literally. I wax windows, headlights, taillights, grills, mirrors, all of it. The only thing I don't purposely wax is trim, because I dress that seperately, but I don't go sweat it if I get some wax on it.

You can put zaino on just about any surface that's not soft or rubbery.

Wax makes the headlights look 100X better.

In addition to what's been mentioned above, I don't wax the B-pillars often- just once in a while.

Also, you should use different pads and towels when waxing the surfaces below the doors.

It does make them look better, but I've heard from people that the heat from the lights will bake the wax onto the plastic causing an irreversable haze after time. It probably best to use a plactic cleaner product like the one from Meguires or Mother's.

Bah! I've been doing it since I was 16 and I've never had any baked on wax.

I suppose, in theory, it makes sense....but I'm not worried about it.

I have the Meguairs clear plastic cleaner and polish but it doesn't look quite as good for some reason.

I like that stuff, smells like laundry detergent though I've used Mother's too. Meguairs > Mother's.

I do like the Turtle Wax Tire Wax and the Turtle Wax detailer that I just recently tried. I may try the Liquid Ice Wax sometime.

I never thought I'd be a fan of Turtle in comparison with Meguiars, but I like the Tire Wax better than Meguiars tire dressings and the Detailing spray by turtle also works just as well as the NXT Speed detailer than I pay $8 a bottle for...

I love NXT Tech Wax and Speed Detailer (don't get me wrong!) but the Turtle stuff is becoming more impressive these days.
