Some people think the stickiness of the clay "pulls" the contaminants out of the paint, but it actually uses it's abrasiveness to "sand" the contaminants out.
Again abasive being a relative term, the lubrication and proper use prevent it from scratching or damaging the paint. My first use was amazing. Smoothest the paint has ever been. Got rid of stuff the Maguire's Paint-Cleaner couldn't begin to remove.

I have a "Brickyard" that I have been claying in the spring and fall since bring it home in January 2004. The first few times used Zaino, but now use the kit from: www.griotsgarage.com If it is your first attempt you might want to get some tips at: www.autopia-carcare.com

I prefer the Griot's Garage Clay Kit with "Speed Shine" vs mixing Zaino's Car Wash with water as a wetting solution. In addition, Griot has a unique "Clay Pad & Elastic Backed Holder" that reduces the possibility of dropping the clay. The elastic backed holder can also be used to a apply polish using their "Red" foam pad.
