Default Is 3 weeks old to early to wax your car?

I had a few people tell me I shouldn't wax it for a few months after I bought it. I live in southern Florida if that matters and I will be using NXT and waxing for the first time. THanks

Shouldn't matter how long you've had the car...you should only wait to wax freshly painted parts.

its safe to wax it the day you bring it home. well, wash first, then wax. are you using the nxt paste or liquid wax? i think the liquid comes off easier.

Check your production date (behind drivers door edge). As long as it has been 2-3 month, you can wax it.

Your car's paint was nearly cured when it rolled off the assembly line. The automakers' baking ovens are no joke. Whatever wasn't cured, did cure during the month or so it took to reach your dealership. Wax away! No need to wait. This isn't 1970

Yes, only use a high quality MF towel for removal. I have an arsenal of those and hand wash them after every other use with a gentle detergent. Be sure to buy them either online or at a detail supply store. Target and Wal Mart carry MF towels in all sizes nowadays but I have yet to find one that can match the softness of say, Poorboys World towels or other non-OTC towels like them. I get mine from www.danase.com, but every detail supplies site sells high-quality MF towels. Expect to pay a premium, though; $6 per towel or so.

I just used NXT on both our cars today - the new 350Z and our 2000 Maxima.

Wow! That stuff is great!! I bought it only because several people on these boards had recommended it. It really does what they say it does. Very easy on and off (I used a 100% cotton white terrycloth towel to take it off, per the directions on the bottle. I used a MF towel to dry it after the initial wash, though.) The shine is so deep it reflects like a mirror.

I wasn't surprised that the Z would look so good afterwards, but was very impressed at how good our 6 year old car looks, too - like a new showroom shine.

For NXT paste, I have noticed that if I start the Z on the front right fender and move backwards (minus roof, hood, bumpers, and sides; I do those in the end), by the time I am done applying it to the entire hatch, the fender wax is ready to be removed. That is in 80 degree weather. And I take my time during application, making sure a thin, uniform, even coat is applied.

I suppose the paste. Is it in a can?

P.S: It would be a good idea to tape off all molding. NXT has a habit of sticking to it and turning it white.

alright... my kinda question... cuz im a detailer... yes 3 weeks is too early to wax... atleast wait a month and a half... 2nd... i use the professional use stuff but if i had to use a store bought poduct it would be maguires... invest in an orbital... u get much greater results with half the time.... put the wax on with a thick pad on low rpm.... then take it off with a thin pad at high rpm.... after that.... take a spray on gloss and a micro fiber towel spray the towel NOT the car... and whipe down the car..... thats how i do mine and i get compliments everywhere... but then again... i detail my car atleast twice a week... haha
