Default question about zaino

Hey guys wheres the CHEAPEST place to buy Zaino Products? I decided that I'm gonna see what everyone's raving about and try out some of their stuff on my 06 Z. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Zaino is only sold through their distributors and I have never seen anybody offer it at a lower price than "list". You can get a better deal sometimes on shipping from some distributors vs the Zaino site itself.

As stated above, online is the way to go.

http://www.zainostore.com/

You can save a little money going with the starter kit...but not much.

http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...ct_Code=ZKIT-1

Do you have an idea which products you'll be starting with?

Zaino products, Z-2 (the polish), ZFX (the accelerator for the Z-2) and Z-6 (quick detailer).

The accelerator isnt needed unless its 100+ degrees outside w/ 70%+ humidity. I used to use it, and now i dont. I just use Z2, Z5 and Z8. I used to use Z6 instead of Z8, but Z8 is far superior for 5 dollars more. You use less of it, and less often. Its about as potent as Z5, w/othe time to cure. I really like the Zaino soap too, i havn't found one as potent and good as it. However, the soap is up to you.

I just placed my order from one of the distributors named Kevin, hooked me up with free shipping! =] Can't wait to try this stuff out. Hey I was also reading that before you use this stuff on your car to wash it with dawn liquid soap to remove the old wax correct? Has anyone had any experience with this?

Yes, that is the "standard" procedure.

The "Dr. Bonz" guide to Zainoing can be found here....
http://kahn.bol.ucla.edu/drbonz.html

It's the bible for us Zaino disciples.

I would grab a few extra bottles of Z7 car wash and a few extra applicators. The applicators get dirty easily and zaino REALLY doesn't wash off with water and soap. So sometimes you are stuck with dirty applicators that won't come clean.

You can use other, cheaper washes such as meguiar's NXT wash (some prefer gold class wash) too. But the Z7 is top quality.

Got a quick question...how often is recommended for the "major detailing" (using the full kit again) after you have already gone through the procedure for the first time and washed with Z-7 everytime after?

You really shouldn't have to go back and start the whole process over unless something unusual happens or maybe after several years. If you need to polish the car for example, or you neglect it for a long period of time, you may want to claybar it again.

The Dawn wash isn't really necessary because it won't take Zaino off, to strip it to the paint, you need alcohol to remove the Zaino or physically polish it off with an abrasive polish or swirl mark remover.

Once you've already done your "major detailing" (Dawn, claybar, Z-2, Z-5, Z-2) it's really just a matter of maintaining/strengthening the Zaino that's on your car.

I ususally put on a bunch of coats of Zaino in the Spring, and then again in the Fall to get ready for winter months...

I'll add coats of Z-2/Z-5 every month or two in between, when a show or big event comes around. Also the Z-6 and Z-8 sprays after a wash help maintain things in the meantime.

I would imagine you could get by with much less, but the car looks so good when you keep many coats on your car!

Just to backup the Z8 comments, I bought two bottles back in the beginning of March and even using it once or twice a week, I'm still barely halfway through the first bottle. One thing often left out of the Zaino discussion by people who dont like it because of the $$$ is the fact that it lasts for freaking ever.

Personally I've "cut back" on my Zaino addiction. Twice a week I use a cali duster and the Z8 depending on the weather. Once a month or so I do the full wash/dry/Z5.

But I've really found that the 20 minutes or so twice a week that I spend keeping it clean really eliminates completely the need for big jobs.

Hey guys, I had a detailer Zaino my car (Dawn, clay, Z2, Z5, Z2, Z6, I think) and am going to polish in the near future. I know this strips it off, but when I go to "reapply", will it be as if I had never Zaino'd before (and have to start from step 1) or could I just throw a coat or two on and be fine? Let's assume I Zaino the car a day or two right after polishing. Thanks.

If the car is freshly polished, then you can skip the Dawn wash and claybar.
