Default New Car Smell?

I got my Z used from a dealership (05 with 8000 miles). It had that "new car smell" to it, or something like it. Does anyone know if they intentionally spray the interior with this stuff or if it's just the smell of the cleaning products they use to clean the car before they sell it? What would produce this smell? I ask because I loved it and after 2 weeks with the car it has ran out

Do you have leather seats? If so, most leather conditioners give off that new leather/new car smell.

when i bought my Z from a private party it had 7,500 miles and the new car smell...

guess it just depends on how well the person that owns the car takes care of it

Well the smell has to come from somewhere... It will go away in a month or so after you use the car no matter how well you take care of it. I think for my car, and yours fat350, the cleaning products the previous owner/dealer used is what caused it. I just wanna know what they used

Well my car had 8500 miles on it and it smelled new. Maybe it's not a "new car" smell but a cleaning product. My question: What is the cleaning product that the dealership uses?

I'm telling you that I got the car with 8500 miles on it. The smell was there, two weeks later, it's gone. That means it had to be something that the dealer or previous owner used.

the "new car" smell comes from all the glue and materials being put into the car and everything drying. my sister did a research on it.

The "new car smell" is a combination of all the chemicals used to make the car. Over time they will eventually fade but the below report was scary!

I bought my Z on Nov 2002 now have 33k miles and still has the leather scent. Maybe because I condition the seats.
