Cleaning a black Z
Im getting a black Z and after washing it whats the best kind of towel to use to dry it with out scratching it, then i heard with the black color you should use spray wax after its dry?
well i donno if the z is any different than a normal black car, but my IS300 is black.
best thing to do to dry it is any 100 percent cotton towel. some people SWEAR by chamois, but i dont really like them. make sure you spot free rinse to reduce water spots, then dry with a 100 percent cotton towel.
DO NOT GRIND DOWN ON THE PAINT. i cant tell you how many people do this at the wash. dont try and get it all dry on the first pass, its almost like buffing the water off the surface, multiple passes. and make sure u turn the towel frequently.
if you want to keep your paint shiny, i recommend a good wax and polish every 3 to 4 months. some waxes (like zaino) claim to last 6 month, but id rather have the protection of wax than find out that it doesnt quite last 6 months.
Best thing to do when you get ur car home is reallllly clean the exterior well. dry off like i stated above. claybar the whole thing. use a fine hand polish and polish the whole car. go back for a second pass, and this time apply wax. your car will be so shiny you wont even recognize it.

The best and only thing to use when drying a car is a waffle-weave microfiber towel.

Dave, that's a wicked suggestion. You should probably create a new post and sticky it. I've browsed for a few days now, and many of these questions can be cleared up after reading that guide. Seasoned pro or not, everyone can learn from it.
