Hard water??

Maybe mineral deposits?

An acidic solution should dissolve them, maybe vinegar and water mix?

have you parked your car around any industrial areas??? maybe a body shop...or near a "painting in progress" zone? I once got overspray on my car, however came off using the clay bar.

It is possible it could be wax residue if it wasn't wiped down thoroughly or bits you have missed then your car has been rained on, depending on the wax, those bits will kind of highlight themselves.

Generally overspray is harder to remove and very consistent tiny round dots.

If it is left over wax it will come off next time you wax.

If you give better details might be able to help a little bit more.

FYI.........The "white spots" you see are the result of rocks hitting your car. It's a common occurence with Z owners. The best way to prevent them is to have a 3M Bra installed, however that needs to be done BEFORE you get the damage!! If it becomes unbearable you will have to seriously consider a repaint. If you do a repaint that be the perfect time to install a 3M Bra. Cost btw $300- 600 depending on quality, size, application process etc.(that's off the top of my head..confirm before buying!!).
