Default Clear bra, self installation, is it possible?

I understand that it is hard to install the clear bra (invisgard),

But how hard are we talking? Would any of you advise, a self installation?

I dont like to give my car up for an hour, she needs me...we have this thing together you know...hahaha

But the real reasong is I am having trouble locating an installer in my town, Tucson, AZ.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Eric

I would suggest getting it done by a professional. I could not even get a 3M headlight protection on. As simple it sounds, it is very difficult to have the film stick on on areas where it curves, and yes I heated the areas to soften them a bit but it still would not stay down.

If you cant find an installer nearby, then all I can say to you is good luck.

I am also considering a self install. More because I am a detail type person and enjoy doing these types of jobs. Also tie flies and build my own custom fly rods. Therefore I don't think a clear bra install is rocket science just attention to detail. I did PM a guy on 350zmotoring who did his own install and he said that the hood, fenders and headlights were easy and the bumper while more difficult was not impossible. If you can do a 3D puzzle it can be done, he said. I was even considering doing a custom one using 24" sheets and cutting the openings so the edges wrap around the inside edges so no edges will show. I'll have to remove the headlamps and bumper but should be possible. I have seen pics on self installs and they look great so it is possible.

Cheers.

You can get the bulk sheets at the cheapest /ft price I have been able to find at:

http://www.vehicleprotectionfilms.com/vpf/default.asp

I figure the hood would be easy and at $40 for the film I could afford some trial and error.

Cheers.

I have applied X-Pel film (http://www.xpel.com) on my race car, but I don't really care how it looks (and the mistakes are everywhere). If you keep the film and car wet, you can move it and slide it, but once you squeege it dry, you have no room for error. You should have a second set of hands to help you, and a supply of razor blades to cut perfect relief cuts so you can get around corners.

I wouldn't try it myself on a street car - I know how many mistakes I've made on the race car.

Nothing is impossible. The bumper is the hardest for sure. It take time, patience and understanding. I would suggest using a pre-cut to avoid razor blade cuts on the car. The best price I can find is at www.rockblocker.com. Their full kit is around $300.00. I have seen some of hteir cars and it looks good. Maybe they can help with installers or tips to do it.

Are you sure you want to buy from a company that has no phone number on their web site?

ruacop2,
do you have a financial interest in rockblocker? I have seen your posts in quite a few places. Why don't they put their phone number or address on their website? Are they an authorized 3M or venture distributor. Why don't they take credit cards? Where have you seen their installations? Where are their install centers located? why don't they list even one dealer on their website?
