Default Newb using Zaino on a SB Z...(56k...do it and weep)

So I finally tried to do the whole Zaino process after seeing IzYou's thread about the Zaino meet coming up in May. And after reading countless threads about Zaino, I finally took the plunge and bought the ZKIT-1 from www.lazaino.com.

Mind you, that I was always use Meguiar's (sp?) products along with a porter cable 7424.

Well boys and girls, here it is...the final result after using and following Zaino's recommended instructions.

1) Wash with dawn dishwasher soap,
2) Claybar with Z-18
3) Wash car with Z-7
4) spray and wipe the whole exterior with Z-6
5) polish car with ZFX + Z5 (x2)
6) spray and wipe down exterior with Z-6 again.
7) polish car with ZFX + Z2 (x1)

It took me about 5-6 hours with waiting for the polish to cure and eating out with my friends. They all thought i was crazy for taking all day to do this....but it was well worth it. I was surprised to see the end result. I have NEVER seen my Super Black Z shine and reflect light so well!

It looks great and now I am feeling inspired. Now that you have gone thru the process...is there anything that you would do differently??

Thanks! I had to use ALOT of elbow grease, but it was worth it. The porter cable (random orbiter polisher machine) would make everything MUCH more easier. Thats the only thing i would change in the whole process.

I do however want to ask the zaino representative at InYou's meet about that. In reality, you dont use alot of the product at all. just light thin coats...with the porter cable, it might waste alot of the product. << dont quote me on that though.

Thanks again for the words!

I would like to see that as well. I have a bunch of Meguars stuff since that is what I used before switching to Zaino. I have their complete kit with all the steps and such.

lets do this ed...BTW, i am not bashing Meguairs or anything like that. I always used Megs for all my car care needs. Since you know about my work situation and the fact that I have alot of time on my hands, I opted to try it out. We will see how everything turns out in a couple of weeks (In terms of Durability).

Yeah same here nothing but Meg's on my car but I never had the option of a side by side comparison so that would be great. I have a 4 step process with a orbital buffer that I use which has yeilded awesome results.
