Smile What keeps interior doors/dash looking nice?

I've noticed through normal wear the interior of my doors and dash (black) are showing minor scuffs and hand oils. I have used cleaners and they've been successful at cleaning the finish. But then the finish begins to fade. I'm leary to use Armor-All because it streaks so badly and is difficult to apply. Has anyone found a product that renews a nice black finish on doors and dash while covering or eliminating streaks and fades, is easy to apply, and doesn't streak? I know that's a tall order, but there must be something out there that you folks have used that you're pleased with! You guys have helped me tremendously with my exterior, now I need help with some interior products that you've found successful.

Thanks!!

Michael

Yah, armor-all sucks. It's very blotchy unless you smear tons of it on. Then, it gets very shiny and reflective.

You are exactly right, rouxeny! What works out there? Seems everyone has wonderful suggestions on how to keep the exterior sparkly clean, but no one, so far, has any suggestions on how to keep the interior panels nice. Frustrating!

I just use a slight spritz of window cleaner and a microfiber towel. Does the trick for me.

i use Meguiars Vinyl and rubber protectant (with UV). Easy to apply.. no streaks. Gives a nice shine that lasts a while. I don't use it on the doors because of its texture. Leaves it really blotchy. I still haven't found a way to clean it other than a damp rag. Anyways.. it works nice. Very cheap too. Only about $3-4 a bottle. Will last you at least 6 months or even more. I spray some on my tires too to give it a nice, wet NATURAL look. I say natural because most tire dressings look too artificial. Meguiars actually helps the rubber with UV protection and it doesn't dry the tire out unlike other tire dressings i've used.

Hopefully, one of the Austin-area Z owners will respond. When I first looked at a Z, I knew that keeping those doors clean would be a pain. I include a bottle of Zaino Z-16 whenever a Z owner buys a starter kit, and I give them tips on keeping the doors clean. No one has called back to complain, so I have to assume it is working. My advice is to clean the door panels with a mild detergent, using a soft brush on any stubborn stuff. Then a wipe with Z-16 and let it dry. The Z-16 will leave a semi-gloss finish, it will make the surface very slick (so it won't let dirt settle in), and it adds UV and water resistance.

If anyone has results from using Z-16, I'd be very interested in hearing them.

303 Aerospace Protectant works great for this! I use it for all of the interior. It provides good UV protection as well and doesn't blotch or evaporate onto the windows and haze them all up.

Get it here for a good price.

Default to Dr Bonz,

Thanks for the product tip and website! Do you know if it can be purchased at auto or chain stores, or can I only get it through the internet?

Thanks!

I bought it from a place down the street that sells hot tubs! I think their web site has a listing of all the places in your area that will carry it.

Another vote here for 303. It's all I use on the interior surfaces including the leather seats. I also use it on my tires.

Rouxeny is a surgical resident (last I knew....maybe he is out in practice now?). How bout it Roux, how much longer until you get to go out in the REAL world and pay those BIG malpractice premiums!

Even with 303 my doors don't look that great. I just think it's the material.

Default Tried Meguire's Gold Class Protectant Wipes

I tried the Meguire's Gold Class Protectant wipes today and it turned out pretty lousy. It turned out great for the area above the instrument cluster and on all the visible rubber seals, but on the doors.... It created localized areas of shininess that really makes it look like a rushed job where spots were missed. I guess I can go over it again but then the whole door panel would have a really akward looking shine. The material patern than Nissan used was a really bad choice from a cleaning stand point.

303 rocks. I used to own a auto detail business and used 303 for years. Nothing comes close to the product.
