Default CA duster

question about california duster. i have a DB 350 and i live in the valley of central cali. dust is a real problem and i get it real bad on the rear and side panels. i use my duster before i drive, and it works great. but, the wax or oil it leaves behind makes dust stick worse after i start driving it to the same areas..any recommendations??

that is what I noticed as well, the wax/oil seems to also cause static or somehting and seems to get dusty MUCH easier after use.

It is parafin wax on the Cali Car Duster. I doubt it is that, that is increasing dust later. When you drive the car, the air running over the surface alone, will cause a static charge that will attrack dust.

Some people who have used the duster have rinsed theirs out to remove some of the parafin. Others have wrapped it in paper towels or newspaper to let it absorb some of the parafin. I wouldn't wash it in Dawn as some have done since this would probably remove too much of it.

The more you use it, and the blacker it gets, the better it works! Mine is seven years old and leaves NO marks behind any more. It did when it was brand new. Also, make sure you aren't pushing down on it when you use it. You just lightly drag it OVER the car just enough to let the cloth "tickle" the surface.

You all might be pressing too hard with the duster. Don't use any pressure at all - just let the strands dangle over the surface. I got my duster when I got my Z (Nov. 2002) and it works like a champ. Works great on pollen if you live in such an area where that's a problem.

Bonz and wxtornado have daid it best. Living in AZ with the desert and no humidity is horrible. I have friends that have had the problem of streaking to, and they say the same thing. USE IT and GET IT DIRTY.

A new duster should be placed on newspaper for 48 hours prior to use according to the instructions. (I would flip it ever 12 hours) Another problem could be using it on a car that has been setting in the sun which would cause the wax to melt and leave marks...
