Default Do you wax carbon fiber parts?

Hey guys, i just got some nice seibon carbon fiber fenders and the carbon fiber hood and i want to take good care of it. Im affraid of rock chips/scratches/sun damage and so on.

Would it be ok to put some meguires wax on it or is there something better out there?

also, on a side not, what would be the best way to clen the machine polished lip on my rims? They are a little pitted from rocks/salf (very little), and have some brake dust in them...

thanks for helps

Normally, when you purchase carbon fiber body pieces they have some clearcoat. So, it would be proper to wax them.

honestly i would take all parts to a body shop and have them re clear all parts. the clear coat that comes with the cf is pretty crappy. i had my hood on for about 3 months and one area is already fading. i have to get the hood re cleared cause apparently seibon puts on some pretty ****ty clear coat and dont believe in taking care of their customers.

+1. I use to do this to every cf i use to get. ALL clear on cf stuff are cheap. they are not going to pour money into good clear because they will lose out on money.

After a good clear, the weave looks better in the sun and you can polish it and wax it too.

True. That is what i was thinking. I was thinking about clearing it with some black pearl mixed in to go along with the black paint of my z, might look good. I just wanted to put it on so bad, i hate having to think about taking it off and having it clear coated... such a pain.

As for the wax, i thought i read somewhere that it would somehow damage the CF... i didnt think it would, just wanted to make sure.

Me + can of mequires wax = date tonight
