Default Anyone with damage fromZaino???

Yes yet another Zaino thread but I did a search and did not find a thread that was directly on point...so my apologies.

I purchased the zaino show car kit as a birthday gift for a friend and now after reading the instructions she is flipping out and worried that the zaino may somehow hurt her paint finish etc.

Just to put her mind at ease I am checking to see if anyone has had any bad experiences or regrets from using zaino.

Personally, I have never used it..but I have read a million and one threads about people loving the product.

Any bad experiences...kindly share.

just go with the less is more method. works best. Z5 followed by Z2 followed by Z8. No need to go crazy. You can even skip Z5 every other time and do Z2 and Z8 (when you want to really wax your car). I usually wax 2-3 times a summer and use Z8 everytime i wash the car.

If your friend follows the directions on the boxes there shouldn't be a problem with any paint damage.

I'm not sure how you could damage your paint with something made to protect it. I guess you could put too much on then let it dry for a couple days and not be able to easily remove it. But something like that won't damage it.

I think the only way you could damage it is if you were using a rotary and didn't know what you were doing, but that would be true of any wax.

Default Zaino

I have been using Zaino for years -- it is absolutely the best polish on the market -- and I have tried them all. Even if you wanted to screw it up, it would be tough, and easily remedied by starting over with the Dawn and clay bar. On a side note for Zaino users -- the new ZCS is incredible stuff. It goes right over the Z-2, then you can Z-8. On a dark car it will scare you at first -- let it dry, be patient.

I was not suggesting that the zaino would hurt the paint, as I confident that it would be the total opposite effect. This thread is to put my friends mind at ease so she can stop worrying about it and can finally get to putting the zaino on her black 350z.

You'll probably find that 99% of the time, "damage" done to the car's surface is self inflicted by improper washing and drying methods.

If you use the Zaino supplied applicator and a top quality microfiber towel (DF Towel for example) to remove the Zaino, you shouldn't have anything to worry about damaging it.

Don't listen to these guys, they are employed by Zaino and are out to damage your paint. Zaino owns a significant ammount of body shops across the states and they have put this product out there to bring them more business...send the Zaino to me and i will dispose of it properly.

Although I agree that Zaino can NOT harm paint I think its the wrong kit for a novice, as easy as it is to use and I love it, a simple all in one would have been a better choice and Zaino makes a great one called ZAIO.
Just the fact that your friend is afraid shows her ignorance about car care and should probably not be doing it herself, she is sure to screw something up and blame the product! Detailing is more about the process then the product, I can make a car look good with any product, its all in the prep and application!

^^Big +1 PLUS ONE +1 to that, prep and application is the key. Once you get good at that, you can mess with other products to get different results. Like if you have flake, you can make it pop more, or if it's just a solid color you can make it deep. Lighter colors are harder to get a deep wet look out of, if you have silver or white...just go with something that makes it pop, like a good sealant. It will last longer too.

What's the shelf life on that stuff? My dad bought some a while ago (seven years or so). I was thinking about using it, but didn't know if it would go bad.

^^^^I think the only thing that goes bad really is the stuff that makes it cure faster...i know that stuff dries up, chevy style...like a rock.

Yes, it has a shelf life and no, it's not any good after 7 years. Check out the FAQ on it...

The new formulations are much better than the 7 year old product you have there.

Danke schon! I'll pick up a bottle of the newer Zaino when I run out of Meguar's Gold Class wax. That stuff's workin pretty good too.

I agree w/ these guys. Zaino is the best thing to come in contact w/ my car. The only way that I can see harm coming to your friends car is during the clay bar step. A few words of advice...just like she says.. "keep it wet and not too hard".
