Default how to clean of paint marks?

I was in a hurry today when I was backing out my car and scraped my sister's car against my rear fender. The scratches themselves weren't deep because I was backing out real slow. Her car is black and my Z is PPW, so my car ended up with some of the black paint on my car. How do I clean it off? I bought some Nu-Finish from WalMart, and my friend say it works really well cleaning off paint marks. I'm not too sure about the product and didn't try it and figure I'd get your guys suggestions first. I didn't post a picture of it because I'd figure the problem is pretty common. How do you clean off paint marks?

I don't know the details of Nu-Finish but I though it was just a wax. You're going to need some type of polish to remove the paint. Try some type of scratch/swirl remover like the 3M Swirl Mark Remover. It is a very fine abrasive that should take out the transferred paint.

nu finish is a scratch remover. I think you have a good chance of getting it off. If that doesn't work I'ver *heard* fingernail polish remover is good to try. good luck

I would not touch a car with nail polish remover! That stuff is vicious and even if it did work, without trying it out on something else I wouldn't touch it. If the nu finish doesn't turn out good try 3m rubbing compound and some clay. Make sure you wax afterwards.

I'd start with a clay bar, then if that doesn't work, 3m makes a micro finish compound that works really well.

3M swirl mark remover or rubbing compound and some elbow grease should do most of the work

davidv, your pictures looks just like mine, but to a much less extreme extent, but instead of rubber marks, it's paint.

Ok Blazemaster, I've had to clean up a few mates cars in the past to remove paint smudges shall we call them. Anyway, I'd personally stick with the less agressive approaches first. For example, gentle application of clay bar, or my preferance would be cleaner wax as the cleaner wax will lift off most surface nasties. PLEASE don't rub at the paint!!!!!!!! Gentle application, sweeping motions in area should remove. As always a photo would help.

And yes, you do need to re-wax the area afterwards. Don't forget to post an after photo.

Oh, and please don't use Nail Polish Remover, it's evil, it will melt straight through paint as most have an Acetone or Denatonium (which is used in anti-freeze) base. Nail Polish remover will melt through paint in about 3 seconds. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acetone.
