Default Permanent dirt on the nismo exhaust tips..how to clean?

looks like i got what i thought was just road grime on the tips of my nismo catback but when i went to whip it off i find that its on there pretty well!

ive tried:
goof-off
windex
paint cleaner/thinner
chrome polish/cleaner

nothing works..as i run my fingers over it i feel the 'bump' so i know its on top of the metal, not that the metal has scraped off in which case i would feel a 'dip'.

any advice on how to clean it without damaging the polised finish on the exhaust tips??

A claybar will remove some contamination, along with steel wool with lots of lubricant.

Nevr-Dull (sp?) I use it on the tailpipes after each wash. Works great at removing those stubborn contaminates.

+1. Never Dull is good for removing heavy grit, but it sucks as a finishing polish agent...

im thinking of going over it with never dull, then using mothers chrome polish on it.

if that doesnt work, then steel wool, then mothers chrome polish.

its driving me nuts..everytime i walk up to the car i just stare at those spots! lol

When it comes to material removal, no blemish is permanent!

Now if you want to add the necessary material back...

well it seems like its some sort of ceramic or paste.

it will come off if i scratch it with a blade...kinda like scraping it off..but when i do that i scratch up the finish on the tips.
