Default Just got my pc 7424. Couple questions

So I just got my porter cable: Plan on going the zaino route, ftw.

What can I use the white pad that it came with for?

Where is a good place to get a flex backing plate and some orange pads for a good price?

Does zaino's products come with directions for each product?

Ive read the dr bonz zaino procedure and plan on following that. Thanks for any input.

I get all my stuff at autogeek.net

Get the Lake Country orange pad. I believe it's 10 bucks

i use my white pad with fine polishes.

Get a 5" backing plate. I use 5 and 6 and i suggest as a beginner to get 5" .

Here's what you need in order to polish/wax a car with a ROB.
1) Porter-Cable 7336SP
2) 6" Velcro backing plate: http://www.topoftheline.com/porcabvelpad.html
3) 7½" Lake Country VC foam polishing pads: http://www.topoftheline.com/7durvelpad.html
I use the Yellow, White and Black pads. You'll probably want two, maybe three of each.
4) Polishes: I use 3M Medium Cut Rubbing Compound (39001); 3M Swirl Mark Remover (39009); Zaino Z-PC Polish/Cleaner.
The compound is for removing moderate scratches, deposits on paint, rough spots, etc.
The SMR is for removing swirl marks, hazing caused by the compound or other polishes.
The Z-PC is for use in place of the SMR on a Zainoed car.
5) Helpful instructions on how to use the Porter-Cable:

The P-C can be bought at Lowes for $109. The backing plate and pads come from www.TopOfTheLine.com. The 3M products I get from a local CarQuest Paint Store. It's a special version of a CarQuest parts store that sells professional paint supplies and equipment. The 3M products are pretty widely available in any case.

I assume you've gotten the PC for the purpose of doing swirl removal before starting the Zaino application, correct? You don't really want or need a PC to apply/remove Zaino.

I would throw the sponge pad that came with the PC away, it is junk. I get my backer plates and pads at www.topoftheline.com

The only two products in the Zaino lineup that I use with the PC are the ZPC Polish and the All in One as both of these contain a mild abrasive that you need the PC to work into the finish properly. All of the other Zaino products do not contain any abrasives and all that is needed with them is hand application.
