Angry DAmn Tree Sap!!!

The last time I had tree sap on my car, it was small little patches which the wind blew and must have landed on my car. I was able to take it off easily last time with a little bit of Rain-x.

so today my entire car was full of small droplets of tree sap. It looked like someone put it in a mist bottle and sprayed it over my entire car. Well, I blame the tree I parked under last night.

Anyways..the car was clean since I washed it earlier before the sap incident. So I used Megiular's quick detail spray to get rid of it, which worked fine...when I was getting to certain areas of the car i could see a little bit of a light bluish hue on my microfiber towel. I am so pissed! I hope I didn't f up my car...i didn't think QD spray was abrasive. What went wrong? What should I do next? I got rid of the sap..but now I am worried about the condition of my paint surface.

edit: to clarify, i got through 95% of the car without any bluish hue. It wasn't until I was finishing up that I noticed it.

Very unusual to get blue on a rag: the paint is under clearcoat. There is an exception. The side mirrors. I don’t think they are coated.

Yeah, I am stumped. It could have been like other stuff or stuff in the clearcloat that just happened to be blue. maybe it was a chipped area where some paint was exposed...no idea really.

Hmmm thats very interesting that that would be on there. That should definitely not be happening on a newer vehicle. Did you have any panels repainted or touched-up? You may want to bring your car to a paint shop. Most paint gauges will be able to tell you how much clear coat is on your paint. This will allow you to understand if there are some potential problems you should be looking in to. There is a great post about paint thickness gauges on our detailing forum (www.detailuniversity.com)if anyone wants to read more.
