Default Polishing Exhaust Tips

Quick question for all you detailing nuts out there.

I have the stock exhaust on my car, and i noticed the other day that my exhaust tips are getting tarnished and nasty looking. Whats the best way you can think of to get them mirror shiny again?

I know they need some sort of polish, i'm just not sure if i should use a chrome or mag polish, or some other sort of polish?

i use mother polish with the mother power ball. Use the mother polish ball with a drill and it will polish so much better than your hand can. It will come out better than new.

lol, trust me, you won't burn anything. If you are talking abotu the bumper and the paint, just tape off the area with painters tape. Also, they have the small ball for little things like that. You can stick it insie the tip as well and it will clean out that whole inside tip.

im interested in this too! I dont have a drill or anything like that. Is there a cheaper way to do this. Everytime i wash my car there is still black soot mostly in the inside. Is there some kind of gel or liquid that will eat it away. HAHA maybe some soft scrub or something.

mothers its the best. But you are going to have to put some elbow grease so the tips could look really shiny.

I think a good metal polish should help you remove the majority of the oxidation and fading you're seeing. All of the metal polishes at Detailed Image are on sale for $7.99 for October. I personally use the P21S Finish Restorer when I need to restore faded metal or clear coated wheels, exhaust tips, etc.

My pet peeve, nasty dull exhaust tips. See all those Mustangs with gray exhaust tips? They used to be shiny. Get them polished up and then wash them when you wash your cars guys!

The Mother's Powerball will definitely get the job done.

I've also had luck with:
Meguiar's NXT All-Metal Polysh - Easy to use and a great shine.
Mother's Chrome Polish - Easy to use and a great shine.
Eagle One Nevr Dull - This should clean up light tarnish well but may need a follow up product depending on what you're looking for.

I would still go with the Meguiar's NXT All-Metal Polysh for Titanium.

But whichever product you choose, just make sure to try it out in a very inconspicuous area first to make sure there are no issues.

After I have cleaned them up with Nevr Dull and buffed them with a clean cloth, do I do anything else? wax?

I used Never Dull and it was a lot better then before, but there are still noticeable stains that were not permanently removed. I'm going to try the mini powerball next.
