Default repairing rock chips

i have a 350Z, about 9 months old. I am getting a lot of rockchips on the hood. I can touch them up but still get more. Any ideas on some type of coating or maybe clear bra to protect paint ? Maybe sealer. Any thoughts would be welcome.

Never use wax/polish that contain lots of petroleum disilates. This will dull/yellow the clear bra. If you have a choice, get the 3M clear bra since this is the only bra with a true clearcoat just like your paint. GL

Yes definitly the 3M clear bra. I ordered mine a week ago and just received it today. I shopped around and found it the cheapest on invisiblemask.com. 3M made with clear coat finnish so that it disappears when installed. The pattern for the front bumper was around 150 and the pattern for half the hood was 110 and included protection for the front fender tips and for the side view mirrors. Saw the kit on other sites that included the whole hood but the price was 950 dollars, rip off if you ask me. The kit I ordered included EVERYTHING needed. The spray bottles, squeege, and blade..Check it out. I'll try to put it on Sun, and I'll get some before and after pics too. This is going to be the best, I hate the way the original bras look I've seen a few Z's with it and I think it looks so tacky.

Ok so I installed the clear bra this weekend. First of all I need to give props to my father who helped me install the kit. Let me tell you that I would rate the install an "Advanced Install" If you have no experience installing tint, don't even try this kit. The hood kit, fender, and back view mirror cuts went on without a hitch. The front bumper was the hard part. Either way I got it on with a few air bubbles. Took me like 6 hours. Either way it certainly disappers when it dries, and as far as the air bubbles. I'd rather have a few air bubbles than rock chips. And if anyone is giving me crap for the air bubbles I would have to say they're just being *****les. Either way kit looks awesome, HIGHLY recommend, if you want to protect the front end of your Z. I'll post pics later today.

here are the pics of the install, honestly good luck figuring out which one is the before and after. Product is invisble. Once again thanks dad for helping out with the install and invisiblemask.com for offering a great product at a great price.

The air bubbles are an easy fix. Just inject some alcohol into the bubble with a diabetic needle. Once its in there, slowly withdraw the alcohol back out. While pulling it back out, use your finger to lay the material down smoothly to the surface. It will lay right down and should be fine.

I highly encourage people to not install their own kits. It is very difficult to do and if you mess your kit up,its money wasted. I have been doing this 3 years and its definitily something you have to practice to get good at. If you have any questions about the care and maintenance of it, please feel free to let me know.

By the way, looks like you did a pretty good job on the install.

is this a precut kit? I have a after market bumper and just had it painted and it is getting torn up pretty bad all ready by the rocks. I would like to order a clear bra if possible just for the bumper. any suggestions?

Some shops do customs orders... but I am not sure in your area. I know the film i use is based out of Trinidad texas and they may be able to help you out with a good local installer. Visit ClearMask.com and Jim will refer you to a good local installer....

great find guys! I've been looking around for something like this since I bought my car in November. Question though, invisiblemask.com offers a "3M" film and "Invisi-Mask". What's the difference? They really don't offer a good explanation on their website. Thoughts?
