Smile Zaino - why I hate it...

So finally I managed to go through the first Zaino experience, I have o my car the TOC teflon thing which I got as courtesy and can agree with you all that other than 5 year warranty it worth nothing. I put turtle wax on the car just a month ago, I was unhappy with the results and when I started to read here about Zaino and other products I pretty much understood why... so off I went and ordered the Zaino, Z2 and Z5 and Z6... My Z is Black. I sarted with washing the car with Palmolive, sorry no dawn, but it does the same deal to remove the turtle wax on the car, the funny thing was that the car looked better without the turtle on it... I did not clay bar and went to 2 layers of Z5 and Z6... My Z5 bottle is black with big white sticker, don't know if this is the new product (the Z2 I have is Pink material)... It was about 90 degrees out here yesterday and the Z5 took about 30min to dry and was easy on easy off... so the results? So why I hate it? My car become so freaking shine that I suddenly saw all those little paint ships on the hood and spoiler... seriously, guys, this product is awesome! all those little scratches in the paint or in the top layer are all gone, it is much deeper black now, it is great. I wonder what the Z2 will do... I plan on a Z2 coat next week...
Thanks you all guys for the recommendations and directions...
Have a great week!

Congrats. You have now come over to the dark side.

Try not to get addicted to the smell as a certain Dr. around here seems to have done.

BTW, did you not use Z1 first?

It will come out even better if you start with Z-1 or the ZFX addative. My super black Z is now really SUPER black.

Default Car wax

Considering that fact that just amonth ago my friend told me, lets go wahs and wax out cars and I was ready to put my car in the local car wash where they hand wax it nicely for $30 I ended up washing the car (myself) and then turtle wax it (myself) That was already a huge step forward... Now, I saw the mistake I made, I invested over $50 in the new products but more importantly re-wax it (myself) again... hei, go easy on me... now you say, needed to start with Z1..? Oh man... I do have that big of an and washing a car myself was the first time in many! years... Thanks you guys!.

I wouldn't worry about it at this point. Sounds like you did a good job.

Zaino does have lots of different numbers to remember

Since you already have your coats on, you probably don't need Zaino now. It is mainly used to help the first coat bond to paint, as I understand it.

I'm a recent convert as well. I will never use another wax product besides Zaino. Stuff is freakin amazing!

Oops, I meant to say "Z1", not "Zaino" in that quote.

No no you must worry about the Z-1. It makes the product 5 times better if you can believe it. The shine will last much longer and protect much better.

I was lectured on this point just last week. It's not a gimmick. I tested it out on my accord without Z-1 and my Z with Z-1. I'll post pictures when the sun comes up.

My point was she's already got multiple coats above the paint. Z1 is mainly used to help the Zaino bond with the paint, and isn't used between layers because the Z2 and Z5 will bond to themselves. Therefore, at this point in this set of applications, it is proabably irrelevant unless she goes all the way back down to the paint and starts again.

That's fine. My point was that she's going to have to start again.

My best suggestion is to contact Zaino for a definitive answer. It may well be that continuing with ZFX would be acceptable, and that would be a heck of a lot easier than stripping and starting over.

Default Wow....

Hei guys, no need to about this topic... I can provide a good answer (for my own use)... I am not planning to strip the coats and add new ones, I am happy with what it did to the color and the shine, I hope to be happier once Z2 will be added... mostly, we should all remmember, this is after all, A CAR... it is meant to be used and once you use something it will not stay new, since it is not new... I drive this car every day, it's my only car... Anyway, you guys introduced me a new product which I was not familiar before and your recommendations and guidance/procedures made me a happier person today... so for that, I thank you

oh, and you made me! wash and wax my car which is a major acomplishment...

Just to clarify. I have had my Z for a few months. My first wax job was with Mcguiers (spelling) and I was not happy because it didn't last. My son, who is a GM Mechanic brought me some stuff they use on Corvettes and the car looks better but I would still like to try Zaino.

What applications would you all suggest I use.

Thanks

Default What applications

I guess I am too new into this product to make suggestions, am still trying to get suggestions. I got however, the Z2 (which I wanted to remove swirls and other fine scratches) and got the Z2 for thereafter... I did not get the ZFX that everybody say it is important, I applied the Z5 at about 85 degrees and it took less than 30min to dry before easy wipe off... I also got the Z6, the one thing you will see is that once you apply Z5 and (I gues Z2 as well) the car will be electrostaticly charged, especially the bumpers (plastics). The Z6 will help eliminate that but this product still attrack dust.

I am thinking to have my plate change to DUSTY Z...

Talking Becoming Slightly OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder)

I have a DT blue 350Z w/3000 miles. I've had 3 different kinds of wax on it. First a hand wax at the car wash with god knows what. It sucked.

Second wax was with Meguiars Hard yellow carnuba. It was okay. Took forever to buff out as with all good Carnubas. I was avoiding Zano because the numbering system was confusing and I would have to mail order.

Third wax was Zano. After figuring out the rather complex Z#'s I got the ZFX, Z2, Z6, 4 applicator pads, and the leather conditioner.

The Zaino was actually easier to put on and buff out than the Carnuba wax. I did it late at night so I got one of those really big halogen lights and used it to do the final buffing (get out all the spots). I used Z6 between the 2 coats of Z2 I put on.

It looked shiny, but it was night so I couldn't really tell that well. In the morning as I was pulling out from my garage, I noticed the light hitting the wall in my garage was blue colored, obviously reflecting off my car, something I'd never noticed before.

At lunch, while driving to Roscoes Chicken and waffles, my co-worker comments on how freakin shiny my car is. And it is. Ridiculously shiny.

Also, if you touch the car, it feels really smooth. More so than with wax or no wax at all. The bad thing is, as mentioned in previous posts, you do notice all the defects on your car. Especially the bumper area. Lots of little dings and what not you'd have never noticed before. I also noticed somebody had dinged my right rear quarter panel without chipping the paint.

Before all this I wan't a Zano clone. But now it looks like I'm rapidly becoming one.

Does anyone know how long this stuff lasts? How often you coat it?

Default Zaino addiction

Yup, you've caught the bug, all right. I love that phrase "Ridiculously shiny".

There's the problem. See, Zaino will keep your car beading water and looking really shiny for at least 6 months, probably more. HOWEVER you will find that you really like that perfect look so you will wash it more often. Then you will put on another coat and you will see how much shinier another coat makes it! Then you will put on more coats, each one looking better and better and you will realize that you are completely addicted and then, if you don't watch out you will start looking like this.
