My brother uses Meguiars and that stuff shines but god it is definitely not my kind of clean. It is always greasy and after a few days it captures dirt and grime. I definitely don't recommend it..

I want something that conditions the tires and gives it a nice clean, natural look. I don't want something like Meguiars that gives a fake wet look..that is so lame..

What does everyone have to say about Mothers Back-to-Black?

I am a Mothers Back-to-Black fan, but not on tires. It’s a little too expensive for my budget to be using every week on tires.

Sling results when the tire shine product flies off the tire and onto the side of your car leaving black specs and grease-type marks.

My go-to tire shine product is the Black Magic Tire Wet Foam.

It leaves good, even coverage; requires minimal work (spray and let sit for a couple minutes); doesn't sling (IME); Not much work to clean from the tire (IME); and is typically readily available at most autoparts stores.

For this type of tire dressing I would recommend the Poorboy's World Bold n Bright. This dressing is actually absorbed by the rubber and good for them. It leaves a nice shine without being super glossy. If you want the extra gloss try using a second coat. If you want a really matte finish try the 303 Aerospace Protectant. It's a great form of UV protection and gives tires that new look without any excessive gloss. Let me know if you have any questions or if you would additional suggestions.

I've always used Armor All Extreme Tire Shine Gel. If the tire isn't clean, and it hasn't sat in the sun for 30 minutes minimum, it'll sling. I recently switched to Black Magic Gel and love it. (sorry TheOtherRob) It shines better, outlasts, and haven't had it sling yet.

If you are using Platinum Black Magic gel, be ready for alot of dirt and grim to build up on the tires. I had to literally scrub every tire with bleche wit to get that stuff off. Ill never buy that crap again. The extreme armoral tire shine is impressing me so far.

Armor-all Tire foam. Spray it onto my tire rag and go around the tire once. And again starting on the opposite side. 2 little sprays for each tire.

I just washed my car and need to revise my original statement because I had tire shine all over the side of my car! DO NOT use Black Magic! Lol. What a pita. I went to the store and picked up some Meguiars Hot Shine in an aerosol can.

FOLLOW-UP on Mothers Back-to-Black:

Well I used this stuff on my dad's Merc S550 and it works well. It gives a perfect natural look to it, unlike Meguiar's which gives that fake wet look, ughhh my brother uses that stuff and his tires feel very greasy and rough when you touch them, and they grab dirt like crazy. That stuff is for show cars, not for daily drivers..

I apply the Mothers Back-to-Black with a small round microfiber applicator to all four tires. I pour a good amount onto the pad so when I run it over the tire it immediately looks wet (but dries afterward). After that I go back to each tire and lightly buff it off with a small microfiber towel. After that I just stare at the tires because they look clean and feel smooth.

I also noticed that the Mothers protects the tire nicely. No big black blobs of tire grime when I clean it..
