Default Tire Shine

Hi guys, I'm looking for a tire shine and since I have never used them before, I need some recommendations on which brand to go for for the best bang for the buck. Also, I'd prefer it if they do not leave any stains on the rims, will hold against water, and are long lasting. Thx

You may want to look into Bella Lustra Tire Glaze at www.migliorewax.com. We've gotten stellar reviews from customers. Here are a couple customers shots on a G37S.

Gives a low luster shine. No fake “wet” look. Stays on the tire. Lasts about a week.

I would suggest you do two things clean the wheels first and then use a water based dressing that can be readily absorbed by the rubber. I spray a light degreaser (i.e. P21S Total Auto Wash) on the rubber and scrub them with a brush. This helps remove road grime and other build ups which opens up the pores of the rubber. Next I use a water based dressing (i.e. Poorboy's World Bold n Bright) as my dressing. It can be absorbed by the rubber and it's actually good for the rubber. It leaves a bold shine and dark appearance to the rubber. Let me know if you have any questions or other recommendations.

I have used many tire shines and prefer Poorboy's Bold N Bright. Great shine plus acts as a conditioner for the rubber. Also no messy splash like with other brands.

Thx for the info guys, but I kind of need it very soon, in like 2 days.

I was asking for recommendations on the typical tire shines from Pep Boys and Walmart.. You know... Eagle 1, Meguiars, Turtle wax... etc.. Like Davidv posted.

But I will give you guys' products a try after, definitely.

There is a brand at walmart in a red/black bottle and I cannot remember the name and I am out of it right now. However, they have a satin finish and a gloss finish. I prefer the satin finish because you want them to look at the shiny car, not the shiny tires.

If you want a nice natural look, with a slight satin shine, you can go with the NASCAR tire dressing. In terms of over the counter I would go with that one, unless you want a super wet look, in which case the Meguiars NXT tire gel is it for you.

Either can be applied with a foam applicator with ease, did you mean water based? Water based products I like are Extreme VRP, its a great product, no sling, and depending on how heavy you apply it you can have a satin to super wet look.

The poorboys B&B is also very popular, but I am not sure if it is water based. I also use the Blackfire Long Lasting Tire Gel

I want the wet shiny look. I think I'll give Meguiars NXT a try. Hows its durability compared to Nascar's?

Meguiars lasts forever, however, it slings like a ****! Super wet look would be the Meguiars of Extreme V.R.P. Chemical Guys make some of the best products out there, you should give it a try if you want water based and no sling. You are in CA so the savings in sales tax will balance out the shipping along with the 10% off code.

Refer to my early post, NASCAR for a nice clean finish or Meguiars for a super wet look.

Thx.

What do you mean by "sling"? Also will both of these products be dry to touch?

Both eventually dry, but the Meguiars can still rub off as a greasy sludge if over applied. Sling is when the product splatters onto your panels when you drive before the product is completely dried. Not a problem if you are willing to wait a couple hours before drying. Sling is another reason the water based or low sling products are worth it.

Over on Autopia.org, Armor All Extreme Tire Shine seems to be getting nice reviews for a over the counter tire shine that looks very wet, and does not sling if used properly.

Ive been trying the Platinum Black Magic Tire shine and I wont be going back to it. It is very thick, and slings even after letting it sit over night. But it does look good. But like said above, make sure that you clean the tire good first. This will also help the spray or gel bond better. I use bleche wite which can also be bought anywhere, and it is awesome. It will eat dirt and grim off anything. Just DO NOT get it on your wheels. Use a rag to apply. Then add your dressing. Ill be trying Poor boys natural look soon, along with 303, and armoral extreme for a comparison for my go to tire shine.

^^^ I've used Armor All Extreme Tire shine ever since my last car. Leaves tires glistening and I can put it on and shower and drive the car 20 mins later and have no sling at all, and I lay it on. Like my father used to say, not shining your tires after you wash the car is like putting on a tux with dull shoes =P

otc for a satin look black magic matte black tire shine for high shine meguaires hot rims tire shine.

non otc bella lustre seems really nice. I have a tire shine a buddy of mine makes and its the ****. Mix of 2 tire shines I dont remember. But pb bold and bright is great. Also the zaino tire shine is great. You can get any look you want with it. from satin to hella gloss.

In order for a tire shine to really stick to the tire and not sling as well as last longer and look better. Cleaning them is essential. I like cg grime reaper at 1:1 for tires or the taw undiluted.

Let me revise my last statement. DO NOT buy the platinum black magic tire shine. That is the worst stuff I have ever used. I had to clean the caked on dirt and grim yesterday off the tire with towels and brushes. It nearly glued dirt to the tire. Picked up some 303, PB Natural Look, and FK1 108 I believe is the number, and Armoral Extreme. Going to be trying different stuff.
