Default Cleaning the aluminum part of the OEM shift know

The aluminium part is very dull and dirty, and I can barely make out the numbers. Anyway to bring it back to life?

Water, Soap, & an MF towel.

It's actually not aluminum IIRC. It's some type of aluminum look-alike film. Mine started peeling. You could see the under plastic...

I bead blasted mine, both the lower portion and the shift pattern. It gets rid of the crappy clear protective finish but gives the aluminum a brushed look.

Note, it will get darker over time but does not look bad at all
