Default Large amount of coke spilled in car :(

Today on my way back from lunch some idiot ran a red light. Fortunantly i was able to avoid hitting him, unfortunantly in the process of doing so my large coca-cola that i had in my cup holder fell out and completely emptied itself in my passenger side carpet, even under the seat. About a minute down the road i pulled into a parking lot and absorbered as much of it as i could with my undershirt. Since I am a student at uti i spent the rest of my class using a shamous( or however you spell it) and an air gun to try to clean it the best i could. After class I bought some auto carpet cleaner and went to town cleaning my carpet. My Z is a 2008 w/ less than 7500 mile on it and I don't want it to smell weird or start to mold, is there anyhting else I should do to clean it?

Also on a related note I noticed there was a small puddle of soda around my shifter boot, is it possible for it to have gotten beneath it?

Thanks for the help in advance!!

I got one even better for you. My roommate spilled a massive amount (Grande Starbucks) of coffee. Carmel and the works. I'm still cleaning it to this day. Best bet? Detail your car this weekend? I dunno how else to help you out man, but the good news is that I never grew mold. You might be in luck too =) GL man.

Some soda might have leaked through the shifter boot where its stitched together, but there is a cotton like material underneath it that probably absorbed it. Its really easy to check and heres a link that might help.

I was going to recommend that you not do blow while you drive. Then I read your post. You can just remove the seat and clean it. No biggie.

STEAM! There used to be a do it yourself var-wash in my area that had a hot foaming carpet cleaner, took out stains that were over three years old in my EX's camaro. If you have anything like that near you, inbolt your seat and head on over. Worst case scenario, if your car starts to smell you'll just have to lift up the carpet and attack whatever is underneath. Good Luck

About 2 years ago, an entire gallon of milk spilled through my passenger seat and to my carpet. Somehow the jug had split in half on the way home, very strange. What I did was pulled the seat out and completely shampooed everything several times. That still did not get the smell out. Long story short, after several bottles of febreeze not working, I took it to the local detail shop and had them do their ozone treatment. It's supposed to get rid of smells. I'm not sure if that's what finally fixed it, but the smell was gone after that and has not returned ever since. If it can get rotten milk smell out, it can get coke smell out.

i had the same exact thing happen to me.. about a 16oz cup of coke!! spilled straight on the boot! amazingly none of went through because i took off the boot and checkd.. the carpet (passenger side) i took out and washed with a hose, and let dry, no smell or mold in my car this was about 2 months ago.. the only thing that i noticed my boot for my shifter is peeling just a little bit in the back side because the coke is so strong..? you shouldnt worry most you should do is get it detailed if you have that extra cash
