Default Driven Auto Detail: 2009 Mercedes E350

This 2009 Mercedes E350 4-Matic was one of the very first cars to come through my new facility. It only had approximately 2500 miles on the ODO. The owner was one of my professors in college, whom I am still friends with.

-WASH-
Pressure-rinse entire vehicle.
Pre-treat door shuts, wheel wells, and front end with mild APC.
Clean tires, wheels, and wells with Optimum Power Clean and various brushes.
Wash body of vehicle with 2 oz. Optimum Car Wash, 1 oz. ONR, & 1 oz. Power Clean in 4 gallons of water.
Pressure-rinse entire vehicle.
Treat tires with Optimum Tire Shine. OTS is left to dwell on the tires the entire duration of the detail to allow the dressing to absorb into the rubber. When I'm done, there is virtually no excess to wipe off.

-PAINT-
Clay all glass and painted areas.
Polish with Meg's 205, PC/5, and a Meg's polishing pad.
Seal paint with Optimum Opti-Seal. Allow to cure for about 12 hours.
Wax paint with Pinnacle Souveran paste.

-INTERIOR-
Vacuum carpets, mats, and leather crevices.
Wipe-down all leather, plastic, & vinyl surfaces with warm ONR solution (2 gallons water: 1oz. ONR).
Treat all leather, plastic, & vinyl surfaces with Optimum Protectant Plus.
Treat all carpet and mats with Aerospace 303 Fabric Guard.
Clean all glass inside and out with warm ONR solution. This works great and leaves zero streaks.

Next day...

Thanks for looking!

Appreciate the effort and photos but the car has 2,500 miles. Just off the showroom floor. How much work does it need?

Tell you what I would like to see. Before and after photos of a car like mine. One with 67,000 miles. Put some elbow grease into it.

You'd be surprised how much work a new car can need. New cars are typically saturated with bonded contaminants from the shipping on boats, trains, semi-trailers, etc. which means the entire car needs clayed. Dealerships are notorious for bad wash techniques during sales lot prep which means the paint is going to be swirled and scratched. Fortunately, this car wasn't bad which is why I only used a light polish. Go to a new car dealership. Feel the paint. Look at it in direct sunlight, especially the black cars. You'll see what I'm talking about. Or you can look through the numerous detailing message boards online and see how many people post pictures of brand new cars that take hours of work to get looking the way they should have in the first place.

Thanks for the less than stellar comments! Really appreciate it.

EDIT:

Here's some elbow grease for ya. 2007 Cadillac CTS. Paint had heavy swirls. 15 hours just to correct the paint.

Looks great. I've seen you posts autopia. I remembered your business name and logo. I use to like the way your rig was set up. You got a shop now? That's pretty cool. Congrats!

Hey John! Thanks! It's great to hear people tell you that they've seen your work before. Yes, I sold my truck & trailer after deciding that I wanted to have my own shop. Indiana weather just isn't kind to a mobile detailer. I moved into my shop March 1st and it's so much better than working outside. I love it. Thanks again!
