Default Meguiars questions

I currently use the 3 step meguiars substituting the 3rd caranuba wax with gold class. Does anyone know if this is ok? Also, when i apply the different polishes and waxes, how do i know if i put enough on the car, especially the gold class wax? Whenever i apply the gold class wax or anything else, it never goes evenly all over the car. Its either i press hard and get white streaks everywhere or i press normally and it looks like there is absolutely nothing on some areas. Any tips for even distribution?

Gold Class is a cleaner wax and usually used as a stand alone product but you could use it as the third step I assume. Personally, after I get my car into shape I never use any abrasive products on it like contained in the first two steps of the system that you are using. I would suggest for you final coat you use a NON-cleaner type of wax like P21S. I would suggest Zaino as your last step but it is not supposed to be applied on top of the other products contained in your first two steps. Switching to another kind of final wax might also solve your streaking problems.

i do the same for my maxima. using the paint cleaner... polish.. then using gold class liquid wax. Works great IMO!! My Blackfire is reserved only for the Z. Gold class isn't a cleaner wax... at least it doesn't say on the box. Meguiars has a separate cleaner/wax in a maroon bottle. are you using the sponge applicator that came with it?? that doesn't work very good. I suggest getting a microfiber applicator or those soft cotton ones. goes on much more smoother and with control.

I use that exact same combination on my 240SX. Totally brought that car's finish back to life! I didn't have any of the streaking problems, though. My 240 is like Brickyard red, and looks the best it's been since new.
I haven't tried the combination on my Z, yet because the TOC application is still working fine. Once that wears off--which many forum members believe it will, I'm going to try the Meguiers. Great product, inexpensive, and readily obtainable.
