Default Claybar then polishing compound or vice versa?

I've got quite a few hairline scratches which are starting to annoy me. I'm going to go over the entire car with a high speed buffer and polishing compound. I also need to claybar the entire car from recent bodyshop work. What should I do first? I was thinking of claying the car first, because that might cause some more scratches, so the buffing process would fix that.

But then i thought about the polishing compound... won't some of it get left behind? Thus causing me to feel imperfections with the plastic bag test? So clay bar after would pick up all left over particles from the compound?

You want to clay bar first and then use the compound.

Thanks for the first step! But do I need to wash the car after I'm done polishing, before applying zaino, or can i just hit it up with Z6 and handle my biz?

My recommendation! Wash with Dawn. Then proceed to "Clay Bar". If you are just talking "swirls", apply as many coats of Z5 until you are satisfied. Then Z6 and Z2. If you are trying to do a lot in one day, add ZFX to Z5 and Z2. Go to the Zaino.com site and look at "Instruction" and "Tips & Tricks"! Follow to the letter! Compound and buffer might not be required if you are only talking swirls.

I've got about 6 coats of Z5 on my car since january. I have hairline scratches everywhere. Most came after the dealership washed my car during service when I told their ***** a$$es not to. I've got the Porter Cable polisher. I just want to clean up the car's surface before the winter hits. It'll be too cold to spend hours on the car later on.
