Removing Tar?
There is a lot of Highway resurfacing going on here in St. Louis. While washing the other day I noticed what looked like oil splattered all over the passenger side of the car. Not a big deal, but this stuff is DIFFICULT to remove. Highway 70 just in front of KSTL is being resurfaced with black asfault and I imagine I drove through some of that oil/tar they spray down just before resurfacing. I was planning on another 3 coats of Zaino anyway this week, so what should I do before I Zaino? Would clay remove the marks, or should I try a tar remover?

Had the same thing happen to me last week, saw the "tarbabies" up ahead on the shoulder, so I took evasive action, for naught. The cars ahead of me just drove through it, sending a fine mist into the atmosphere. Windshield, hood, roof, rear window, everywhere. I tried several things, but finially used Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover. Sprayed in on a soft cloth, and dabbed the spots. Seemed to work pretty good, but be prepared, still finding little specs here and there. Good luck.
Funny Cheeves, I used that Turtle Wax Tar Remover today before I read your post. It worked great. I spent about a half hour going over the car to make sure I got everything. I then added 3 more coats of Zaino. Looks GREAT!!!
I also tried a product called RainX Wheel Protectant. It is supposed to keep brake dust from sticking to your wheels. Just spray it on and walk away. I am not overly impressed with the results. I drove about 40 miles today and when I looked at the wheels there was dust on them. Maybe a little less than before, but I can't be sure. I will try again tomorrow.

claying doesnt do s**t for tar and other stuff. I know because I've tried Z18 several times (or whatever its called). Use bug and tar remover. If it is really in there, try some Meguiars Step 1

If the tar is just tiny specks the clay bar can remove it sometimes, but if it is gooey and smeary the clay will only make it worse, I recommend Stoners Tarminator and it does not seem to harm nor dull the Zaino coating, or WD-40 is good to.
