Any wax or durable polish's job is to shield the paint beneath from abrasions of every day use, so the polish itself can become scratched slightly but this is a good thing as you would rather have this happen than the scratch happen in the clear coat itself.
Any wax or polish is supposed to be a sacrificial coating that will wear off and is supposed to wear off over time and more be applied.
Not to say it is needed or necessary to put 50 or more coats of any kind of wax or polish on a surface, some like Dr. just likes to do it (including myself) as a hobby, exercise, stress reliever, or what ever. Some absolutely hate the process of applying and removing wax, but I never have. I dont think the Dr. is saying you should run out and put 50 coats of Zaino on your car, he does it because he likes it.

Correct. If I didn't enjoy it, I wouldn't do it.
I think the Z-7 carwash smells like bubblegum and the Z-6 mist smells like wild cherry!
As for my not recommending 50 layers, this is NOT TRUE!!! I think EVERYONE should run out RIGHT NOW and apply at least 10 layers before weeks end.
(note to self....contact Sal, buy more shares of Zaino stock)

Bonz,
I now have 12 layers of Z2/Z5 on the new brick and it does not even compare to the way yours is looking. Does it all of a sudden become liquid looking after say 25-30 coats or am I doing something wrong? Any helpful hints are appreciated. I did the whole routine as mentioned in many threads, Dawn, Clay, Z6 between every coat, etc..
Thanks.
Gary

S100 > Zaino.
KIDDING. Looks awesome Doctor, its great to see so many people loving their cars so much.
I forgot how many layers of everything I have, and how many times I've stripped it off and restarted, but the SB just begs for more. Keep up the good work and awesome pictures.

It was looking really nice waaaay back around the first 10-15 layers or so but then it got a little less stunning IMO. I then clayed the car to get out some of the embedded impurities and then put on another couple of layers and this REALLY made it POP once again.
It really doesn't take 50 layers to look like this though. It is just about being meticulous in avoiding swirls and keeping it clean.

Man, your car looks great Doc! I'm on my 21st layer, but it definitely doesn't look as good as yours. Of course, my car is CS so it doesn't show the shine as well.

That 4th pic is crazy!!! I still believe that pictures don't mean squat to show-off a wax product, but OMFG!! That picture is just insane! Do you have a hi-res version of it?
Bonz, how far is your commute? I've had my car for 6 months and have over 11,000 miles on it. Hopefully I can get another 4 layers on my car before winter is in full force.

Awesome...
OK, just got my Z 3 days ago. Did my first coat today. Z-1 & Z-2. For 50 coats...let's see...my arms hurt already just thinking about it J/K
BTW, did you use the accelerator kit with all those coats?

I assume by "accelerator kit" you mean the ZFX? I use ZFX approximately half the time. Otherwise I just apply the Z-2 or the Z-5 in the evening and leave it on the car overnight and remove it the next day.
Afro: You are correct. Not only the spoiler but the side skirts as well. I ONLY have about 24 layers on those.
