Ice Clay bar and wax
any good or bad reviews when using Ice Turtlewax clay bar (Complete kid). I also went to auto zone and they sold me a wax (baby blue bottle)?? Any recomendations or valuable clues... Thanks guys i aprecciate your help a lot
Clay bar is pretty much the same throughout brands. (its just a piece of clay) Wax is where you need to get picky. Most waxes will make the car look good right after you wax it but how long it looks good is in the brand. (ZAINO)

Clay bars are dragged across the surface of the paint to pick contaminants off the paint. ICE clay bar is clay mixed with water and lubricants/detergents in a bottle. It doesn't help any more than just scrubbing with a rag.
I have some, and tried it on my winter car. It sucks, end of story.

Same here tried the clay bar on my truck, 7 years old, and didn't get anything onto the clay bar. Total rip off if you ask me. We are all after a great shine, so I suggest a good soap and then a good wax. You can't make the paint last forever, so if you have crappy paint and its been a couple of years you might just have to dish out for a good rubbing compound at a body shop. Or just repaint
BTW, I use some soap for my Z, its the same stuff they use at local car washes and I must say it works like a charm. Its nothing fancy like some of the venders sell here,(ie. the all natural with pure carbuana wax bull$hit) but it works. I pay 20 dollars for a gallon, and just work wonders. I've been detailing my own cars for the last 12 years and I've tried all the fancy names, but none compare to the wash I use now. Its called Wash N' Wax Concentrate by American Detail Products, "We sell Results-Not just Chemicals"

A seven year old truck isn't that old. My Z is over 6 years old now and I clay bar it regularly and wax it with Adam's Americana Paste Wax. Here is a picture showing the shine after a recent wax job. Car paint should last for years if properly maintained.
Clay bar has worked every time Ive done it. I always get contaminants off the paint surface. I have never tried the Ice kind. I fugured that was the lazy mans clay bar that would have poor results. You typically get what you put into anything.
I used the the liquid clay bar on my rear lip right above the exhaust. I had alot of carbon build up and it took it right off. This was after I slaved away on it with some rubbing compound for months. Liquid clay bar works pretty well.
I've had good results with claybars before. Although with as long as it takes to do the whole car, I tend to only do it about once a year. Between claybars, wash it regularly and wax it 2-3 times a year and your paint should hold up great.
I have used the Liquid Ice Clay bar and the Ice Wax on both My Z 2008 and My Harley 2004 Low Rider and both are Black and I’m very satisfied with the results. Now you have to understand both "Toys" for a better term are Garage kept and see no Rain and I’m very "****" on keeping both clean to begin with. Therefore the liquid Clay bar might be a good product to use if the vehicle is generally kept clean. Just my thoughts of course.
I have little faith in the ICE liquid claybar, the mixture of clay and lubricants just doesn't seem right. Seems like it would be hard to pick up the contaminants and other debris as effectively as an actual clay bar with proper lubrication. The ICE polish is not a bad product at all. I have used it on the work truck and it tends to leave a really nice shine and offers a LOT of fillers to hide typical swirls fairly easily and for a good month or so. However, it is not a true wax and offers little to no protection. If you do use it, follow it up with a quality wax or sealant for decent results for the efforts used. Nothing beats a true polish and wax applied correctly, but in a rush or for vehicles that are not a primary concern or drive, it works well.
