Ace Tinting & Glass
Has anyone in the Dallas area heard of Ace Tinting & Glass? I'm looking to install a clear bra (which they refer to as clear shield), and I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of them or dealt with them? They only want $150.00 for install which they said would only take them 4 hours.
They don't use 3M film but some other brand I have never heard of. They do guarantee (lifetime) against cracking or peeling or yellowing. When asked what kind of guarantee they have in regards to their installation, the un-polite man told me they've been open for 25 years and they have been installing clear shields for 10 years (ever since they came out - according to him).
Could someone please verify that clear shields have been out for 10 years.
What do you guys/girls think I should do?
Should I save the money and time and go with them?
Should I spend $100.00 more and go with the same company that applied my tint - Sunmasters in Addison, Tx.?

I just had a clear bra installed by Sunmasters last weekend. At this point I'm a bit disappointed. The main bumper piece has some problems as it wraps around the driver side of the car. Several spots have small "folds" where the adhesive didn't take hold and the clear bra isn't attached to the car. These arn't bubbles im talking about....this is at the edge of the piece. I'm going to take it back in this weekend and request that they reinstall 2 of the pieces. The hood portion and headlight portion of the install came out very nice. The large bumper piece and the very bottom piece came out not so nice. Based on others comments concerning their work I don't expect to have any issues with them in getting these problems resolved.
I'll try to post some pics of my problems and I'll follow up with what happens.

fyi I payed $399 for the clearbra and if I can get these issues resolved I feel it will be money well spent.

Wait, do you mean you paid $399 for the clearbra when you bought it from SunMasters? And that price included what parts? I'm guessing that price did not include install. What type of film was used?
I'm sorry to hear about your problems, but they seem like good guys that will take care of you and get the job right, even if takes more than once. How long did it take for them to put it on? How much did you pay for install? Also just wanted to make sure that they didn't cut the paint anywhere when they where applying the clearbra.
If you can post pix that would be really cool, so I can see not only the quality of their work before that fixed their mistake and after, but also what the clearbra looks like once it is installed.
Good luck with the re-install, and I hope everything goes well for you.

I paid $399 for the clearbra AND installation. (I also got the car tinted...$140 for the tint) I'm 99.9% sure that it was the 3M version of the clearbra but I never asked directly. They had the 3M brochures in the lobby so I assumed that's what it was. The kit came precut for the Z and I asked 3 times if razors were going to be used. They told me that the since the kit was precut NO razoring would be necessary. Basically they just have to lineup the different pieces correctly....which is difficult in of itself.
Installation took a full day....I dropped the car off at 10:30 and picked it up at 5:30pm. I scheduled to drop it off at noon so they many not have started installing until then.
Clearbra + installation was $399
I'll take some pics and post them but it may take me a day or 2 to get them online.
Also....My Z is Black.....it's pretty obvious that this color shows EVERYTHING. If the install isn't perfect I'm gonna see it.

What sections of the Z did the clearbra kit used cover?
I'm asking because there are like three kits out from 3M, and the one that covers the entire front costs approx. $420 just by itself. + $11 for each top side mirror + $10 for each bottom side mirror + $20 - $40 for top of roof.
Thanx for your help Twist. I would like to get mine done very soon, and am seriously considering going with SunMasters depending on your experiences with them and their work and customer service.

The kit I got installed covers the following areas:
Front bumper -- I think this is 3 pieces. Basically it covers the entire bumper area. Upper light assembly piece, main bumper piece, lower bumper piece.
Hood --- I was surprised how far it covered the hood. the top 1/3 portion of the hood is covered
Rearview mirrors
They had an additional add on kit that I could have purchased that would have covered some of the roof area and fenders.
I've seen the prices posted on these boards for these kits...this is what I suspect. I think this kit RETAILS for $399. That's the price 3M posts as the retail price. (or so I believe) When I scheduled to have my car done with Sun masters I put down a $100 deposit. I'm thinking that this covered the cost of the kit for Sun masters. They had to order the kit before I brought my car in.
I think the kit cost sun masters $100 or less and the rest was the cost for the installation labor. I'm not positive on this but it makes sense.

p.s. I'll try to take pics when I get home tonight and post them.

Hey Twist, thanks for posting those pics - I really appreciate it. Let me know how it goes at Sun Masters the second time you bring your Z in. Hope everything goes well for you and satisfaction is achieved. I must say even though your car is black, you can't even tell that there is anything covering your car in the picture... even with those problem areas.
